REVEALED: Rodgers' pre-season training notes - Liverpool stars drilled on possession and conditioning... and reminded to honour supporters while on tour in Jakarta

This picture offers a fascinating insight into the pre-season preparations of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

On Liverpool-branded paper, Rodgers has scrawled his instructions for a one-hour session in the humid climes of Indonesia.

The notes include formations for a practice match, exercises for the players and even instructions for the stars after the session comes to a close.

In the top-right corner of the sheet, Rodgers has jotted down formations for each team to face one another in a practice match.

Liverpool later tweeted the line-ups, with Steven Gerrard, Iago Aspas and Coutinho among the players taking on Kolo Toure, Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen's side.
Rodgers' session included an 'intense' warm-up, 'circles', 'technical exercise' and 'possession'.

The former Swansea manager also had a couple of reminders for his players while they enjoy Jakarta in their downtime.

Under the section simply labelled 'Notes' in the bottom left corner of the training sheet, the players are scheduled to sleep during the day before another session.
He also scribbled the words 'supporters - honour', perhaps offering a gentle reminder to the Reds stars to conduct themselves properly while in Asia.

The players are also due to take a stroll out of the team hotel, but are told to be careful, with the words 'No Paths!' written afterwards. A warning to the players as they head onto the bustling streets of Jakarta no doubt.

Dominic King is in the Indonesian capital and witnessed 17-year-old Jordan Ibe net a sensational goal past Simon Mignolet during the training session.

The Sportsmail reporter tweeted: 'Training been notable for two things: 1) The number of dragonflies that resemble tiny helicopters, buzzing around 2) A goal from Jordon Ibe.

'He showed his prowess at Preston but the effort Ibe rifled past Simon Mignolet flew past the keeper like a rocket.
    'Cue applause all around.'
Rodgers' men will face the Indonesia XI on Saturday before travelling to Australia to take on Melbourne Victory on July 24.

While I love the LFC tours of the USA, we simply cannot match the passion of other nation's supporters. Our sports culture is used to American football/ baseball-- passive fan experiences. Watching fans on the tour each time we head to Asia, I can't help but tip my hat to the supporters over there. Massive support; I envy the collective passion. Just awesome.

It's why I never understand when a lot of local fans have a pop at the club for going on these tours. Our fanbase in asia is massive. Australia will be a 100k sell-out too. It's going to be amazing for the fans but also the players. What other opportunity are the majority of those fans going to get to see us?

One more era of success and we will become the biggest club on the planet, no doubts for me at all.

Nah. Was a lot of fans on twitter after these tours got announced. My comment was more a reference to that. Didn't agree with touring asian countries 'as plenty of their fans ruin the atmosphere at Anfield' was just one of the comments.

Let's be honest, we should have been the biggest club (at least in England) by now, if we had half decent people in-charge exploiting our worldwide fanbase.

I just wondered if you get to Anfield much and how far you would have to travel?

Used to go to odd games, but stopped a few years ago as have family committments now. Used to take me a couple hours from Derby. When the season ticket finally comes through will hopefully start back up

Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush tonight tipped Liverpool’s new number nine Iago Aspas to be a big hit at Anfield.

Speaking in front of an audience of close to a thousand fans at a BIGREDS Supporters' Club event in central Jakarta, the Reds legends - who both wore the number nine shirt with distinction during their time at Liverpool - insisted Aspas has all the qualities to do the shirt proud.

"Liverpool have a long tradition of great strikers wearing that shirt," claimed Fowler, "and the weight of expectation that comes with it can either be a burden for a new player or can act as a real motivating force to score goals. Brendan has shown his confidence in Iago by handing him the shirt and the early signs look very promising. He had a great goalscoring record in Spain and if he can transfer that form into the Premier League then we could have some player on our hands."

Aspas made his debut as a goalscoring second-half substitute against Preston last weekend but for Rush, who joined Fowler and Didi Hamann at the fans' event, it wasn't just his goal that impressed. "I liked his movement a lot," he enthused. "To get the first goal of his Liverpool career will have been great for him and to score it on his debut will have made it all the more special. However, I was really impressed with the positions he was taking up on the pitch and his movement in and around the area. He'll still need some time to adjust to his new team-mates and the way the game is played in England but I have high hopes he will turn out to be a very astute signing by Brendan Rodgers for Liverpool Football Club."
