Don't care how we play this season if we finish 3rd, because the step forward it can give us is enourmous. imo.

All it would mean is that the top 2 ran away with the league, i could handle that if 3rd spot went to us.

Nah - 5th every day of the week for me.

A lot of this discussion depends on Suarez if we keep him, where he goes and if he goes who we replace him with.

We should be aiming top 4 every season no excuses.

If we can break back into the top 5 I'd be happy. Both Manc sides, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs all have had a massive headstart on us in terms of squad development.

Push for 4th spot all the way & even if we falter & finish 5th but play well I'd be happy. Also a good cup run would be pleasing.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Agree with Manchester, Chelsea and Man City being quite far ahead, but Arsenal and Spurs? No way. They're within reach.

I think that this is going to be a big season for an awful lot of players and how we do will depend how players settle or step up.

If we assume that we will take the squad as it stands into the season you could imagine a starting 11 something like:
Mignolet, Johnson, Toure, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez. (That won't be the team on the opening day as Suarez and possibly Sturridge will be unavailable). That looks like a decent team with experienced players only Mignolet and Toure haven't played competitively for LFC before, but both have PL experience.

Beyond that we have Skrtel and Downing who have a good amount of experience. Then we have alot of players who have been around for a while but don't have many games for us under their belts: Jones, Coates, Allen, Assaidi and Borini, who for me are unknown quantities and have something to prove, then there are the new signings Alberto and Aspas who again are unknown quantities. Then we have some promising youngsters who we hope will be featuring and again have something to prove Sterling. Kelly, Ibe, Wisdom, Robinson and Flanagan.

As things stand we have a good first 11 but relatively few experienced players, IMO we need some of the unproven players such as the new boys, Sterling, Borini and Allen, to have good seasons, otherwise I fear another frustrating and inconsistent season.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

They are in reach hence the top 5 finish but they've had their squads in better shape for a lot, longer than us whereas we're rebuilding it.

Every team starts with 0 points and the same number of games to play across the season. I feel with the form we showed the second half of last season we are as good as any team regardless of what players we have. We need to believe in our way of playing & form a consistent squad. We need to take advantage of the managerial changes to chelsea, city & united.
The pinnacle of every top player is to play in the biggest tournaments...so finishing in the top 4 for me is a must. Too much talk of having rebuilding seasons...there's no better time than the present to go and do it IMO. Aim for the league title & see how high we finish.
Although it's still early in the transfer window & lots of business still to be done!
Bottom line...focus on our own team/squad/style of play/mentality and finish in top 4. Im not too bothered about the cups...just need to get back into the CL for all the benefits it will offer us in our quest to moving forward & being at the level we want to be.

Simple, he we have to do better than last season.

In an ideal world that means snatching a CL place but I don't think that's a minimum expectation - we'd all be delighted with that I'm sure.

A decent FA Cup run would also be nice.

Push for 4th. 5th okay as long as we're challenging throughout. More interested in getting results than style personally. Style and little substance is a spurs trait. Hopefully a few more in as we won't do it with existing crop IMO. 7th and I'll be pissed.

It's a big ask with a dumbed down squad.
                          Oh I don't know.
