Hmmm... Hardly gonna happen. Villa are no mugs.
    Are we winning?

They weren't great yesterday, i had thought they must have played well seeing the result, but they didn't, so long as we keep an eye on Agbonwhatshisface we'll be ok, we are capable of winning this well. imo.

But, as i've said in another thread about the upcoming season, that i hoped we got what our play deserved this season, as i feel we haven't for a while, we didn't yesterday tbf and could/should have scored more, but as we took the 3 points it didn't matter, on other days it might, Villa could be one of those days for sure, they have players that can hurt us, but, if we play and create as we have thus far, we should score some goals, by that i mean more than one.

Does not constitute an attack on the team really. I think I need to grow some thicker skin to survive on here this season or jack it all in.

        Enjoy your day guys. YNWA
Yup. A thicker skin is required.
        Oh I don't know.

I'm surprised that you're surprised. Even if we win the league, Rodgers will still have lots to sort out and fix.
          Oh I don't know.

We got three points, in the end it all that counts. You don't get any bonus points if you play excellent or minus points if you play ****. Three points is what counts.

To get better confidence is what counts and you get that by winning games no matter of how you play.

Man U played average in many many games last season but they still won the league by a mile.

Three points is what counts, nothing else.

If we win games then the confidence will be higher and higher. The players will get a winning feeling before the games. The players will know that we will win tight games.

            Three points is what counts.

On the whole our defensive game was good because we controlled the game from start to finish. Stoke hardly had the ball.

Why not the same with us?

Stoke were a decent opponent. Sturridge has barely had a pre-season, it was Aspas' first taste of EPL pace and an opponent like Stoke. A brand new defensive pairing. And we still created so many chances, with Coutinho again being fantastic.

We still have a couple signings to come and one of the best strikers in the world to return to the team.

So many positives to take out of the performance yesterday.
To be fair they've been doing it for 20 years kinda gets beyond a coincidence

Anyways we won yesterday & completely dominated the game. Their keeper was superb but we obviously need to be that bit more clinical in front of goal..likes of the mancs. Defence was dodgy but against one of the strongest aerial sides in the game... and we had new CB & new Keeper.

Positives and negatives.. more positive though for me but in the end.. the 3 points is all that matters. great start and long may it continue

We could have finished the game off with another goal, that's my only gripe. I thought it was a fantastic game and credit to Stoke. Superb inter-play between Coutinho, Aspas, Sturridge and Gerrard. It was a joy to watch at times. Great penalty save, that double save was just what Mignolet needed. He looked a little bit shaky up until that point, but he got his first game out of the way and saved the game for us brilliantly. How good is it to have three points from our first game?!

In case I've missed the point, are you saying three points is what counts?

We did but, not every team is as good at set pieces as they are, it's their main goal scoring threat. Next game will be a test to see how our defence handles a powerful and fast forward with a more direct approach. Agger and Toure didn't do much marshalling yesterday, they'll have to be right on the ball to contain Benteke.

Agger's intentional handball was his lack of belief that Mignolet would be able to deal with the pending header that would've ensued otherwise. Mignolet's reactions were the one element that was on song so Agger shouldn't have been so unconfident. Yet having to save the penalty would've done his confidence far more than having a header to deal with. It's fate

Would be nice to b able to soak up some pressure once we went ahead but we can't do that yet. Some encouraging signs but need to tighten up as could easily have drawn. Good start in any case.
