Gerrard probably needs a rest alright, but the Mancs usually bring the best out of him I also remember Lucas getting a serious injury in a cup match before, vs Chelsea I think, so I'd be wary of that. Presumably Allen is fit, just not getting a look in. He hasn't got an injury since pre-season has he?

That describes a Monday after a weekend loss all right!

I would sincerely hope that none of our players NEED a break/rest at this stage of the season, an aging Gerrard included
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Sturridge and Gerrard should be rested here. This cup really isn't important in the grand scheme of things. We lost Cissokho in the last round and nearly lost Toure to a bad injury. Sturridge has been struggling with an Injury and this game really isn't important. We need to focus on keeping our big players for Sunderland

Really? He's had a few decent performances but I though the general consensus is he normally goes missing.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Allen's been out since he had to be subbed against Notts County. Hamstring injury I think.

Although Rodgers made five changes for the Notts County game, it was in no way a 'weakened team' and he clearly - IMO - won't play a weakened side at United. Massive game, hated rivals, away from home, no European football - let's go for it.

Most Liverpool - United games I think he usually ups it, maybe I'm mistaken. He definately goes missing in most matches, that could be put down to him pushing on in age.

This is the U21 team about to play Man City:

                        Liverpool FC ‏@LFC 25s
#LFCU21s team to face Man City: Ward, Sama, Maguire, Perez, Jones, Rossiter, McLaughlin, Roddan, Morgan, Dunn, Brannagan.

Subs: Fulton, Sokolik, Bijev, Lussey, Peterson.
Anyone obvious missing who we think may be involved on Wednesday?

Kolo's just come back. Sakho has hardly played. Agger we should rest if he's even available. Skrtel? Maybe rest him. Anyone else?
Well for me, agger and Enrique have both just had injuries so would be good to rest, Lucas and gerrard need a rest, as does Sturridge.

That's five players...but with some of the injuries we have I don't think we can afford to rest them

Ideal world, I'd like to see something like

                          Mignolet

                          Kelly
                          Skrtel
                          Toure
                          Cissokho

                          Allen
                          Henderson
                          Alberto

                          Ibe
                          Suarez
                          Sterling

Gone with ibe/sterling cause aspas isn't up to it...but I'm pretty worried that the three in midfield would struggle as well, but it'd hopefully be a gamble worth taking if it meant that both gerrard and Lucas where fresh for Saturday.

But with cissokho being injured, the ****s up left back as well
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Ilori and Alberto are the obvious ones. Makes sense.
