Unless Llori is up for the job and his pace can be utilised on the right side?
    At RWB?

Sort of defeats the purpose of playing that formation to have either there IMO. I'd be hoping for a much more attack minded player.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

      Something like this?

      ------------- Mignolet
      ----- Skrtel -- Toure -- Sakho
      Ilroi -------------------------Enrique
      --------- Lucas -- Gerrard
      --- Alberto -------------- Moses
      -------------- Suarez

      Sterling for Alberto mebbe ...

I'd much prefer Kelly over Wisdom in that role; Kelly has more ability in the final third and would offer more of an attacking threat than Wisdom.

I think this would be a good opportunity to trial 3 at the back tbh, I know it's the Mancs but I'd rather give it a go in a cup comp first than straight into the league.

            3-5-2 or 3-4-3?

Didn't Kelly play (impressively) as a wingback in the 5-2 victory at Craven Cottage under Kenny?

                  Nope.

I think Kelly's passing is not as trustworthy as Wisdom's, but Kelly appears more natural on the ball. He's certainly able to take the ball at speed and looks more confident going forward. With Wisdom, I feel he gets stuck on the ball and the momentum is lost.

Yep, would rather have Kelly's powerful drive and whip crosses than Wisdom's more controlled but safe game. Wisdom just doesn't look particularly comfortable at rightback to me.

If we are playing three at the back, I'd like to something this, offers ball retention, width, energy and attacking threat. I could be persuaded into Allen for Gerrard and Alberto in the hole. That would essentially be 3-4-3 when attacking and 5-3-2 when defending with lots of opportunities for triangles.

I really don’t see the point in having Wisdom in the team if we’re playing 3 at the back, we may as well just stick with 4 as we’ll be getting no proper width anyway.

Although, if Young keeps up his current from for United we could get away with playing no RB, or even Suarez in there.

Might not be three at the back obviously but been told by a journo I've stayed in touch with since all that BS last year that that's the plan. Don't shoot the messenger if it turns out to be bollocks

I think a lot of us expected it anyway TBF. We need to try something different to cope with Johnson’s absence and seeing as we’re so well stacked in CB’s, this makes perfect sense.

Really interested to see who gets the nod at RWB though and to see if Gerard and Lucas play a more offensive role.

Exactly right, Sakho will be 1st choice centre back, he's already better than we have

I stopped reading everything else after that ridiculous comment

I just feel that our team needed midfield / attacking options added - not a centre back.

Also, if Sakho is that good (so good that he can command a fee of £17m with less than a year to go on his contract - after saying that he wouldnt sign a new one) then one of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Napoli or Monaco would have tried to sign him. But none of those teams did.

Also, if he was that good - then it is strange that PSG sold him at all. Maybe they needed the money!!!

Obviously I hope he becomes our Vincent Kompany - but I just can't see it happening.
