That's the spirit! But you did miss a golden opportunity to say that our home form was "papering over the cracks".

It's the 8th December and we're not out of it yet, that in itself is an achievement!

If we're in a similar position come the end of January then it's worth assessing what our realistic targets are, for me at the moment it's a top 4 finish and we're currently on track to achieve that, anything more this season would be a massive, massive bonus

If we win the league this year it will be without doubt the greatest achievement in the clubs history.

We have spurs, Chelsea and city away coming up. That'll dispel any title talk. You couldn't win a pl with our midfield or defence as is.

Well come Jan i fully expect the midfield to be sorted out. If Sakho is given a run in the team the defence will settle.

If we can successfully navigate the next 3 away games and beat Cardiff at home, then at the half way point in the season, we'll be in with a chance. It's a big IF though.

We then have all our rivals to play at Anfield in second half of the season with no European distractions.

The next few weeks could be season defining.

Just to add to the dreaming being done on here by some posters. (not you Dom )

Football throws up all sorts of funny occurances.

So, how apt would it be, that in the very first season of Bacon Faces retirement, we go and climb back up on our perch.

                    That would just be perfect

Football is never straightforward and that's why we love it. Who'd have thought that Liverpool team of 2005 would become European champions or Greece winning euro 2004? If we come through december in good shape and sort the midfield out in Jan we have every chance as most of our tough away games would have been played.

I know in all likelyhood it's not going to happen, other clubs have better squads etc.

But as i say; in football unexpected **** happens, and we have Suarez, so anything is possible, if not probable.

Man City's defence is ****, yet they are the bookies favourites?

Why not? Their midfield is somewhat better than ours and they have more strength in depth elsewhere. When's the last time we had a clean sheet again?

I like the optimism in this thread, don't share it, but I love it. I still think we will have had a fantastic season if we come May is in 4th place

We are doing well, but some teams around us are starting to look more stable and will get more points as well. We could potentially come close, but realistically we are still a team in the making and don't think we quite will be there in the end.

But rock on the optimism I did predict us for 3rd at the start of the season, so it's not that far from

If we carry on winning then surely the inevitable disappointment won't arise!
