Fair points. Perhaps it's better to prepare to beat someone as opposed to just turning up or fielding a weakened/experimental side. Hull were nursing wounds and we should've prepared for a backlash. I think we set ourselves up with flouncy flair players and expected them to make fools out of Hull. All teams can suffer this sort of surprise result but I think we're more susceptible, perhaps I just notice more when it happens to us.

No I agree but I think Aspas would have fell more into that 'flair' description than Moses who I thought had done okay so far for us.Originally posted by Norbs View PostFair points. I'm not really too sure what other side Rodgers could have put out except for the back 4 with Coutinho not being ready, if we'd have been winning I don't think Coutinho would have came on. Almost for emergencies only.
But a team with Flanagan, Sterling, Moses and our midfield are never going to dominate a team who work as hard as Hull did. I think Flanagan has done well but I'm just including him because I don't see him getting near any of the other top sides XI's.Vive la France

Gawd knows who I'd have put in instead but then I'm not paid to make those decisionsOriginally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostNo I agree but I think Aspas would have fell more into that 'flair' description than Moses who I thought had done okay so far for us.

I'd have probably gone 3 at the back with our 3 most adventurous CBs - Sakho, Agger and Toure. Then I'd have put 4 in midfield Moses, Gerrard, Lucas and Johnson. I'd have then put Suarez and Aspas upfront with Coutinho and expected us to get thrashed 11-0

It was a tough decision for Rodgers, mainly because his options were so limited with Sturridge injured and Coutinho not fit to play.
After seeing our line up I thought "I hope we get through this one" and I'm guessing loads more did as well, we'll definitely add more in January but before then we've got some tough games so I hope someone steps up. Looking at our options I can only see that being Moses or Aspas unless Alberto is given a go.Vive la France

I don't believe that for a second.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIs the Twitter rumour not about Ashley Williams - rather that Brendan wanted attacking reinforcements, namely WILLIAN, but the club went and bought Sakho instead? I'm sure that's what I read.
Probably bollocks anyway. Rodgers and the club have said enough times that he has the final say over transfers.
Committee would not buy a player that BR doesn't want but I do believe that there were players he wanted badly but the value that Committee placed on them ultimately led to us missing out on them.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Yeah I read that too but also that he did want a centre back as well and the one he wanted was Williams.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostIs the Twitter rumour not about Ashley Williams - rather that Brendan wanted attacking reinforcements, namely WILLIAN, but the club went and bought Sakho instead? It's a bit like Assaidi and Sahin, he didn't want either of them and never played them/play them in their proper position as a result, Assaidi is obviously a bit ****e like but it's a familiar situation.
That fella has deleted a lot of tweets though for whatever reason. The only one that remains related to this is that whatever the issue with Sakho is, its "trivial and not for public consumption".
I fully expect Sakho to start against Norwich and stay there.

It is still difficult to understand why he was dropped in the first place.
He goes and plays for France scores 2 goals and comes back with a great deal confidence and we dropped him not for one game but for 2 in a row.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Hope you are right and Sakho starts. Just saw Hull's 3rd goal. ****ing hell. Skrtel didnt need to throw his chest at the ball. Toure is about 10 yards away limping in a different direction. If it was another team I would be pissing myself laughingOriginally posted by Mostar View PostPretty much guaranteed to start.

I have to admit I did laugh. It was ridiculous.

I think a big problem in this game was that lucas and gerrard were sitting so deep and were quite static, we controlled the game so ive no idea why they didnt push up further and shorten the gap between them and the front 3. So many times toure/skrtel looked a bit bemused as they went to play the ball out from the back and there was very little movement directly in front of them.
Need a CM who can get the ball turn with it and run, one who is not so easily marked out of the game.
Gerrard has lost that dynamism now and looks to pass alot more. Lucas never had it, very limited in terms of offensive movement. Sure he is a DM but needs to be able to contribute more going forward in these games where the opposition sets up so defensively.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!
