If anyone had told me that we hadn't won at Stoke for 29 years I would have called them an ignorant dickhead and bet my life on the fact they were deranged.

Only in the league. Had a bad record there in the league since they came back up but until then they'd been out of the top division since the mid 80s, so that stat isn't quite as bad as it first seems. We won there in the League Cup last season (Suarez wonder goal) and beat them 8-0 away in the League Cup in the Houllier years. Ziege scored one of them if I remember rightly.

Oh, and I thought Gerrard did well today in the role assigned. He has been massively underrated the whole season because he is compared to the role he played 3 years ago IMO.

Gerrard did well individually but when he is tasked to drop back into defence then I think has to take a share of the blame for our back line dropping too deep (either side of half time especially). His technique in the area saved us a few times though.

Not sure why people though Johnson did badly today. He's had a run of bad games but I honestly think he was good against Stoke.
