No worries. In real time, it was tense. Such a relief to win

Happened to Rivaldo a good few seasons back.

Missed a penalty for Deportivo in the last league game of the season. Had he scored they'd have been champions.

It was on at 1am Monday morning here so I decided to give it a miss. Too tense at the moment & I hate watching any team that fat Sam is involved with.

It was typical Fat Sam tactics. WHU were direct and very physical. However, Mignolet, Skrtel and Sakho were immense. Dealt with everything that was thrown at them. Couple of things to note from the game - Gerrard looks so comfortable in that deep midfield role. Cool, calm, measured and a real leader. Also, Lucas had a great 45 minutes playing left (or was it right?) of the midfield diamond. He changed the game. Still not worth watching though

At least the City game will be earlier - 10.37pm your time?

Yeah the city game is a decent time for us over here thankfully.

Deportivo eh, so many of the smaller teams have strived for greatness only to miss out narrowly, then fade away....losing all their best players, i remember Sampdoria in Italy doing well at one point, with the bald winger (forget his name), did Deportivo ever win a title i wonder ? So close, soooo damn close.

The thought of having to go through something like that this season is the stuff of nightmares.

I agree but it does feel like it a lot of the time. After his first couple of authoritative performances there has always been a feeling of something hurried and skirting the edge of disaster about everything he does.

Deportivo and Celta Vigo had some terrific players and teams in the 90s. I remember when Celta whipped us in the UEFA Cup with Karpin and Mostovoi running the show. Salgado was another eye catcher before his move to Real. Makelele another from that Celta team

BBC still has a match report on their insane website!
