And if you can't get your head around that then there's no hope for you I'm afraid.
All we needed was a draw against a team that set itself up to do a minimal amount of attacking, and we blew it. Norwich gave us a harder game defensively last week.

i have to disagree...Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostWe didn't abandon our usual fluid style of play the problem was in the final 3rd we had no room to manoeuvoure and every run one of players made was spotted and stifled by a Chelsea team who had quite clearly been very well instructed on how to stop us.
i know the chavs have sat very deep and defended in numbers making things very difficult for us but we mostly passed the ball across the front of their defence.
there were only a few moments when we played one twos and tried to get through, and a few occasions when we tried to get behind them.
we mostly shot from outside the box or crossed to empty space.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I am absolutely gutted but it is the one game I feared the most. I said in the build up thread I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea got the victory and they did just that. Their tactics were proper ****e but it's what Mourinho has been doing for years and it works. We just didn't have an answer to their tactics.

So this is essentially how I feel right now.
If we don't win the league this season, I think I'm going to take a break from football. It sounds completely ridiculous when we've widely surpassed most people's expectations, but losing control of the title in defeat to a filthy rich and completely negative side like Chelsea completely underlines what's wrong with this sport. What's the point if the richest teams are always going to win? City has the momentum now and without a miracle of some kind, they are going to win the rest of their games. I know we've all been claiming City is the lesser of two evils but they are still only where they are today because of the insane investment their owners have made.
It's just too stressful and it feels pointless. Why bother?

I think this is right. We should have played for a draw- probably ended up winning.Originally posted by BootRoom View Post

We were in total control until Gerrard's error and when they scored our job became 10 times harder. We had to push up which exposed us to the counter in the second half. I just couldn't see a way through their 10 men behind the ball ****house tactics. I was expecting them to catch us on the counter and more so when Willian came on.

We resorted to those tactics BECAUSE Chelsea stopped our normal game, we couldn't run in behind them because they either sat deep or they spotted the runs and blocked them.Originally posted by baitman View Posti have to disagree...

Chelsea were extremely well prepared and organised unfortunately.
