To be fair to Luis he worked his ****ing bollocks off. I think the reaction at the end shows us that he loves the club, which is nice.

I just feel so ****ing ****e now. Only a game Innit, but meh.

Yep - we've missed him badly in all three games he's been out. We need another player with that sort of energy in an attacking midfield position this summer.

The other thing with the Sakho-Skrtel combination is how many goals we have conceded over the past few games - off the top of my head, 2 at Norwich, 2 against City, 2 against Chelsea, 3 at Palace. That's 9 goals in 4 games. For whatever reason that combination there is clearly not working, but they both seem great players individually.

        MOM for me was Mignolet.

I'm going to see that miss and the Gerrard slip in my nightmares for the rest of time.

We deserve to win **** all with a second half performance like that. Hugely depressing, a complete collapse like only we know how.

This was our chance, I really don't see it happening again for a very long time.

I have to say though that when its mattered, our top players have let us down over the last few weeks, Suarez in particular, has been under performing. Yes I know we wouldn't be where we are now without him, I'm just saying that these last few weeks, he hasn't really raised his game.

The defence needs a huge overhaul, at times it seems like the opposition can scored at will.

It all sounds crazy though as part of me thinks we have no right to be top of the table at this stage in the season, but then getting here and failing so spectacularly at the final hurdle is bitterly disappointing, more so when I'd say its out very best players who've let us down in the run up. So deflated.

Again today he lost his man and then Palace equalized.
Yep, he had a good two months or so this season to be fair and the goals he scores are lovely but other than that he's cost us goal after goal and plenty of games as a result. Who left Gayle tonight? Who messed up on both goals away to Man City in a 2-1 defeat? Who lost Samuel Eto'o for Chelsea's winner at SB? who was awful on all 3 goals away to Hull? Fulhams equaliser at Craven Cottage. I could list loads more, we get away with him at Anfield but away it's a massive problem. Our best defensive performances under Rodgers have been when he's out of the team. He's better when Agger is babysitting him but still needs replacing.

Rodgers has said a few times this season that there's still a long way to go in terms of the team's evolution, and where he wants it to be.

I think pressing, decision-making, and the transition from attack to defence may be key areas of work.

Moses is ****ing wank anyway. It might as well had been a 30 yard chance he's that ****. Gimp.

****ing defense. Looks like the last hope of the title disappeared today. It is unlikely but not impossible that City would draw against Villa or West Ham but they would never lose. Gutted once again. The luck we had earlier this season looks to be over. I don't blame this on Clattenburg but he was awful today.
Skrtel made the wrong decision for their first by coming to meet the ball but he was left marking two players. If he doesn't come out and the ball is flicked on then they're clean through also. That shouldn't be happening from a simple lob forward. Lucas should have been following his man back but he was 15 yards away jogging about.

There was nothing wrong with his positioning for the other two goals at all. Very much an escaped goat on here, probably due to Chris's myopic hatred of every thing he does. Look at the player of the season thread, that will tell you why he's in the starting lineup.

Sturridge set up Sterling for similar, although the keeper was in place, and he fluffed it too. Such a shame

I think it is somewhat naïve to think we can just outscore everyone, while Rodgers isn't going to go all Mourinho in his approach I think next season we will have to sacrifice some of the attacking flair for a stronger defensive base. We have conceded 49 goals this season in 37 league games I can't see that being allowed to continue.
We're far too leaky, tonight in particular was ridiculous.

Where was all this magical leadership when we were finishing 7th and 8th? We've scored a shed load of goals because we do a shed load of attacking, and because we do a shed load of attacking we leave a lot of space for the opposition to exploit. Allied to the fact that midfield provides minimal protection to the defence the defence, we are going to ship our fair share of goals over the course of a season.

We haven't looked solid in defence since Benitez was here, and you can bet that having a very, very defensively strong and regimented midfield played a very big part in that.

If Rogers didn't have 100% belief in his system we wouldn't be in this position now in my opinion. We really have no right to be at the top of the table with this crop of players, and if we've played more defensively against Chelsea or tried to shut up shop tonight, then chances are we would've played more conservatively in the run up and not won 11 on the bounce. Disappointing as it is, I really do think we'd be way off top now if we were anymore conservative.

They could draw both I guess, although that isn't going to happen either really.

Sell Lucas and buy back Mash to give us some sort of cover for the defence.
