Karim Ahmed has officially signed his first professional contract with Liverpool. The 18-year-old, who can play both as a forward and an attacking midfielder, will join the U21 squad for the 2025–26 season under new head coach Rob Page.
Ahmed began his journey at Liverpool’s Academy at just six years old. He made an impressive U18 debut in December 2022, scoring in an FA Youth Cup tie against Bournemouth. Last season, he recorded seven goals and five assists, also making appearances in the UEFA Youth League against Bologna and Leipzig.
With this new contract, Ahmed becomes the third Egyptian currently at Liverpool, joining Mohamed Salah and Alvin Ayman.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I was reading an article recently about our youth policy and how some players are sent on loan to develop and hopefully come back and contribute to the first team, but for others, it's known they will never break through, so the loan is simply to increase transfer value (and develop the player of course). It made me wonder, why would those players sign a new contract then, surely that will just make it harder to find a new club when the time comes?Originally posted by peterbread View PostIt’s seems whenever a young player goes on loan they sign a new deal. Double protection. If they’re good and worth keeping their on a long deal, if they’re not at the Liverpool level but do well it adds to any transfer fee or send them on another loan and hope they impress enough for a decent move and help them keeping getting experience to get a good club in the future.
I suppose though, footballers will always back themselves to make an impact and will hope it leads to better things, but more importantly, I guess it guarantees them a decent income for at least another 3 years, regardless of how the loan pans out. How many ex players do you read about that are broke or doing menial jobs to get by?
Really is quite clever, as well as being mutually beneficial to both sides. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

As per The Athletic, the Reds beat Arsenal to sign Will Wright for £200k on Friday.
Liverpool were said to be preparing for Wright to join the U21s under new head coach Rob Page, and that is exactly what happened on Saturday, with the teenager making his Reds debut.
As per a report on Liverpoolfc.com, Wright came off the bench to play the final half hour of Liverpool’s 0-0 draw against Hull City.
The match report was the first ever official mention of the youngster, as they quietly unveiled a teenaged striker with a big reputation. New signing Armin Pecsi also featured, playing the full 90 minutes.
Liverpool signal Wright potential
Liverpool often like to be careful not to let young players get ahead of themselves in the academy.
That is why, for all the talent he has, Ngumoha began life with the Reds in the U18s. Even Ben Doak, who had already made several senior appearances for Celtic when joining in 2022, started in the U18s.
So, for Wright to head straight for the top level of youth football illustrates just how good Liverpool think he can be.
Clearly, the former Salford City striker will be given time to settle in and no one should be expecting any first team involvement for Wright next season.
But as he continues to develop over the coming years, Liverpool clearly have big plans for him.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Yeah I think he is the only signing that I can recall. We’re likely to see quite a few go out on loan though.Originally posted by peterbread View PostAnother of the youngsters taken from another team. They all seem to be making good progress and showing real potential. Let’s hope it continues.
Is Will Wright the only one they signed this season?Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
