Not really. There will hopefully be little impact for us as Ibe is available, but if we'd went into second half of season thinking it was a one game ban and left Ibe at Derby because we didn't think he'd get much time here, then we'd be a bit screwed now that Sterling and Gerrard are injured.

Or even place another position appropriate player in the Europa League squad had we known one of the squad would be unavailable for 4 games/2 whole rounds.

Maybe he got sent off last season playing for benfica because I subsequently predicted that he would be a flop at Liverpool (not that he was ****). Was that it in a nutshell? Was it one of those surreal gags?

4 games is a joke, but why expect anything else from UEFA. The fact that the incident took place in December and it has taken until February to decide on a the punishment is crazy though

It wasn't a sending off in the first instance. The ruling bodies in football are ****ing knobheads. If Markovic doesn't play in our next few European games then I'm sure we'll cope, but the punishment just doesn't fit the crime (i.e. nothing happened).

Don't blame you for not taking the chance, as it wasn't as clear an opportunity as some think, but FFS !

Made a couple good runs getting forward when we tried to counter in the first half, and both he and Sterling offered outlets, which we didn't really capitalize on. Also showed a good bit of play around the edge of the area, but he should have taken a strike at goal.

Lacking in everything else in his return to the side. Not the kind of lad you need to back you up in a fight by any means. Back to the bench pal......you've been placed in roles unfamiliar to you, but you're gonna have to show you can be the attacking resource you were bought for next season.

A poor signing. Not what we needed to spend £20m on last summer, we needed solid first team players and not prospects. And there's not been much progress since. He may come good, and by then he might help us battle for the Europa League spots.

Sterling didn't help things by not expecting that pass. He was on his heels a bit and should've expected Markovic to slip him through for a tap in, he didn't really run hard until the ball was played.
It was the right decision to make, if he had of shot and missed people would be going ape**** that he didn't pass to a wide open Sterling for a tap in.

I hate it too but I hope win the cup in which case Europa is unavoidable. At the end of the day we are going to eventually have to get to grips with playing multiple competition's if we ever want to be a part of the top table of club football again.
