Thanjk you.

Its not crazy at all. We're horrific at the back and its nothing to do with the defenders. They've all been part of solid defences at some stage of their career. Lovren looked immense at Southampton, Sakho dominates for the French side, Skrtl was very solid in Rafa's side, Agger too and Kolo was a key part of multiple title winning sides
They all look absolutely clueless at times for us though.
There is no protection and the fullbacks in Rodgers "system" get forward...but struggle getting back. It leaves the CB's exposed and the result is the shedfull of goals we concede each year under Rodgers.
Hopefully the changes in backroom staff mean this glaring problem is fixed.

funny really The Lovren at Southampton and the Lovren at Liverpool.....Jekyll and Hyde...not all down to the player for loss of form, just like Assman said an easy target
To be fair, I think quite a few posters - Gee included - questioned Lovren's signing and even referred back to his Lyon days and how Fonte at Southampton made him look better.
I understand Assassin's point and it is indeed a clean slate, but if Rodgers is leaving a fit Sakho out to allow Lovren to start, I think it's fair to ask questions.

It's a myth he had a great season at Southampton. He was good until that Christmas then tailed off badly. As I said at the time, Fonte was their more impressive defender that season. I'd say he can't quite believe he's still there while Shaw, Lovren, Alderweireld and Clyne have all moved on to bigger clubs.
Let's hope Rodgers does forgive and forget; It's an essential attribute in a game where people make mistakes.
Clearly Lovren has issues, but maybe a dedicated pre-season, some training and a season wiser without the weight of a large transfer fee will see him settle down.
We can only hope he proves his worth. If he doesn't I hope Sakho doesn't leave in the meantime.
This is my worry. With the Euros in the summer, he must be thinking about the prospects of retaining his place as CB in the French team if his opposition (Varane, Koscielny) are playing regularly for CL teams, whilst he is not getting into ours. Especially if he doesn't feel he's getting a fair crack of the whip.
