I quite like that when Lovren makes a mistake, he's a **** house cunt who can't kick a ball, but when he plays well it's all down to the guy that plays next to him.

I know you are being facetious - but I’ll bite I think we all know Lovren has a mistake in him. But having a guy like VVD next to him has calmed him down massively.

Arguably Lovren was the better of the 2 over the two games. But I know which one was more important.

The drive we were under first 45 today and second half last week was controlled and marshalled by Virgil. He is helping Lovren get back to his best performances.

He was absolutely immense again. We look better at the back when*he's alongside Van Dijk. I much prefer him to the passive Matip. I don't rate Matip and have said so on here. Also contrary to popular belief, I think Lovren's had more good performances than bad*this season. Long may it continue.

This is the real reason for the defensive improvement, not the intro of VVD, but it has helped.

I hate this guy. But that's both games against city where he's been bang on it. Really good when he concentrates and doesn't have time on the ball. Fair play lad.

I thought the Matip injury would hurt us but when he plays like he did last night, Matip doesn't get a game ahead of him.

Yeah, when he gave the freekick, I was pretty unhappy then, but he was excellent. When he keeps things simple he tends to be better.

I like him, he gives everything, is a good character and does the handsome quota a lot of good as well. And for all the stick he gets there's a hell of a lot of big games he's delivered in.

One swallow doesn't make a summer, if we want to be genuine, regular contenders at the top we need class, which brings it's own consistency. VVD can't play every game and we need Brothers doing it for themselves.

I bear him no ill will or hatred, he tries (too hard sometimes), you can see he cares but he's not good enough often enough or reliably enough. Lets hope he has a good end to the season and we can get a good trade-in on him.

Matip is my preferred choice still and hasn't had a good run with VVD shouting at him yet. If we can get a De Vrij or Gimenez etc they'd slot in here.

If Klavan is happy with his 4th choice role, then great. Perfectly good enough for that role and in many ways better for an old codger than a youngster who needs to play. On which note:

Jo-Glow has huge potential but we've seen is just as prone to an error and needs time. Possibly a loan next year to a mid table team, which leaves space for a new recruit to be VVD's main partner.
