I think our problems are down to Management/coaching/lack of/not enough experience.Also i would ask Jamie Carragher to be our defensive coach.We signed these players on there form and reputation and now they a poor version of those players we signed.

Yep it's definitely not as easy as it being just a succession of **** players. One thing with Lovren though, he was bought as a leader and that quality was heralded by Brendan yet Lovren told us himself he isn't one and never has been. So who exactly identified that as a trait of his and why are they allowed to scout players when they are clearly seeing things

Makes you wonder who scouts these players and on who's say so...also it's putting pressure on BR not to make last season look like it was because of Suarez alone

People were being stupid about Bertrand because he wasn't exotic or exciting enough, he was always decent.

What's happened to Lovren is pretty concerning, he is much better than what we're seeing. Mitigating factors do include the chaos around him, but he really hasn't taken charge the way he was supposed to. Something structural must be at least partly at fault though, too many decent defenders have looked awful for us now.

What worries me about Lovren is all the negative reports from his time before Southampton. Was last year a blip? One things for sure he looks a pile of **** at the moment. All over the place.

I'd rather take an Agger who might be injured for half a season over any of our four centre backs.

He was running around like a headless chicken again, positional sense is really concerning. Skrtel was Poxy early doors but we would have lost if it wasn't for his clearances and blocks. Shocking partnership. Johnson and Enrique were dire too. It's a horrible defence at the moment. Wonder what Ronaldo and bale are thinking about it.

Dejan lovren has gone from playing in a defence which was very well protected to a defence which every time we lose the ball is constantly exposed.

Why are we all surprised when he looks completely lost. Hes just playing in a side which doesn't have a defensive philosophy other than each defender has to win their individual battles.

Lovren may well turn out to be a good player for us, but on current form he needs to be dropped and even if it means starting Kolo I would do it. He would not be as bad right now IMO.

Other than Sterlo pretty much everyone has looked mostly **** this season.

Think its hard to judge someone coming into this shambles.

Lallana has looked good in the main part and Moreno has looked very promising

Prior to yesterday Henderson has been steadily improving but the rest have looked ordinairy and personally I think Sterling hasnt looked that great either except against Spurs and yesterday

Defensively we are woeful £35 million spent this summer and we have seen zero improvement as a collective unit. Nearly £55 million in two successive summers if you include Sakho signing last year and no improvement in fact you could probably argue we have gone backwards over the last 12-13 months defensively

Whilst I can agree that we offer less midfield protection to the back four the issue I have with Lovren is positional

Its not just positional when teams are scything through our midfield, its positions he takes up wherever the ball is on the pitch. Invariably whatever position he takes is the wrong one and that is born out by the number of times hes failed to even be goalside of players either in general play or from set pieces

I didnt watch him last season so cant really base what I am seeing this season against anything else but his game looks fundamentally flawed. He isnt a good talker / organiser because to be that you have to be positionally savvy and he isnt

I'd play Sakho ahead of him to be honest

Its Hobsons choice but I genuinely think Sakho is better than him all be it by a small margin
