Hmmm, kinda.
I think you're right for patience to be shown when we see posts berating a younger player (see Derek Origi). When it comes to a 25 year old bought at a premium, it would be fair to expect them to slot straight in. Some take a year to adjust to either the pace of the Premier League or the expectation at a larger club but show glimpses of their ability; Lovren looked truly awful throughout last season and I think the stick he got was relatively fair.
It's credit to Lovren that he has knuckled down and not let the situation get the better of him with kudos to Klopp too, as he seems to have simplified his game to get him to do what he does and do it well.

I think that is what the difference is, letting him defend and hoof it if needed to relieve pressure and regroup at the back.
Rather than trying to make him a Baresi/ Moore hybrid who has to get the ball off the keeper under pressure all the time.

Daft bat has been kicked out of the Croatia squad for France because of his big gob.

Not really. You could say that about any player and if they come good then you are right. If they dont, well then you can just keep saying it incase they do.Originally posted by Fredo View PostShows the virtue of patience.
Patience has its place and as Mudds have pointed out, with younger players or players with undoubted proven ability on a bad run of form. But with Lovren it was at the point where I wasn't even sure he was a professional footballer.
He was a lost cause for me, and his turnaround has been remarkable.*Except Michael, who died.

Thats a bit of a coverall statement. People tend to say that about players coming into the league too.Originally posted by Fredo View PostNew players need a year to bed in usually, that's why I meant that we needed to be patient.
Lovren appears to be a combination of bedding in, Rodgers not having a clue and bad form.*Except Michael, who died.

It's no coverall statement if he improves, as has been the case with him. Whether that was down to bad management from Rodgers or just a are of him needing time and a style of play suiting him, remains to be seen.
It would be easy for him to attribute the former for his failings though. Are we winning?

As if! Though in this case he has improved after time but I think thats more to do with the removal of the Slovakian Titus Bramble than any settling in, he was fine alongside Sakho in the few times they played together last season aswell.
