OK, he got beaten in a couple of headers. They were duels. He was lost. It happens. The rest of the team didn't exactly help with dealing with the second ball. That was a problem too.

The two weird tackles in the second half were a bit mental. Fair enough.

If VVD gets his header on target just before the second goal, the game goes down a different trajectory.

Ultimately, we were second best team on the day.

    **** happens.
We are getting to a level where to really push on to win things the mistakes have to be almost nullified. Ok they happen. But 2 identical ones within 20 mins that both lead to goals?

On his day he’s good. Overall he’s not good enough.

My point is that the team needs to be better equipped to deal with secondary ball. Even VVD will lose out on the occasional tussle sometimes. Is the mistake being hussled, or is the mistake not deal with the inevitable hussle.

There are so many grey lines and areas.

And no, I'm still not defending Lovren.
      Oh I don't know.

it's unrealistic to play with two CBs that are exceptional in the air. Sure, Lovren got outmuscled and lost both duels but we should have dealt with the knock ons better than we did. Particularly the second. Personally their first was a fabulous bit of skill from Rashford, both the turn and finish were top class.

We do need to sack off Dejan but it's unfair to lump all/most blame for their goals.

The guy is a prize plumb. If you cant see it then get back to the wayltatm thread.
My big problem particularly for the first one isn't him getting beaten in a duel it's him not even competing for the ball. He goes with Lukaku and then has a moment of indecision and drops off him leaving him almost with a free header

Even the pressure of challenging alongside an opponent can be enough to be partially effective

The second one I probably have more sympathy for Lovren than the first one because at least he challenged for that ball

Yeah that’s true as well. They were very soft goals to concede.

Dejan Lovren is being investigated in his home nation of Croatia for giving false testimony in a court case.

The Liverpool defender is at the centre of a media storm in his homeland surrounding the trial of Zdravko Mamic, who is charged with drawing 116 million kuna (around £14m) from Dinamo.

Lovren is being looked, report Telegram, at over differences in his statements from the original investigation and the main trial, regarding monies paid at the time of his transfer to Lyon. He is also being further investigated for perjury, claiming he was a good defender and had leadership skills.

Croatian journalist Aleksandar Holiga notes that Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is similarly in the midst of such a situation and indeed has already been charged.

At present there is no charge leveled against the Liverpool man, but the lingering possibility of it along with the investigation itself will naturally be weighing on the defender’s mind.

This all comes after Lovren only recently opened up on the difficulties off-pitch that he had been subjected to this season, including an attempted burglary on his home.

That's been going on for ages now hasn't it? Completely forgot about it. Probably one of the off-field excuses for sporadic cackness he's hinted at.

So it was Lovren, Klopp was going ballistic at and not the referee. Glad to see he shares the same frustrations as some of us.

                            Yet he still picks him.
