Nah, was hung out to dry having to mark Aguero and Sane.

First goal was a word class finish, but Lovren has to do better, he's on his heels and doesn't react quickly enough, I was screaming at the TV for him to get closer and tackle aguero, time just kind of stood still for a second, Lovren did nothing and then Aguero smashed in a worldy.

Lovren has been one of our most improved players under Klopp, but he was poor last night. His evening was summed up by that awful ball he pumped up field in the last few seconds of the game. No middle ground with him, he has a run of good games then a bit of a stinker.

Gomez can't come back soon enough.

He just isn't a good enough player to be playing at the highest level of football.

Why is he still here......that is what any of us would ask Klopp but in reality I think we can see that he is fourth choice CB at the moment. Gomez is VVDs preferred partner and when he got injured then Matip was given the chance. Matip seems to be made of biscuits and is always injured so we are left with Dejan. He has made plenty of errors in other games but the opposition haven't been able to punish us unlike last night and I'd say his high wages make it difficult to get him off the books.

Klopp and Edwards are not idiots and they are phasing players out of the team/squad but that takes time. I think this time next year himself, Moreno, Lallana and Migs will be gone and then only Hendo will be left to scapegoat

Clearly he doesn't intend to make the ****s ups he does but he has a tendency to build himself up for big games and then lose his composure/concentration. The comments pre match don't have an impact on the game but they do give fuel to the fans who don't rate him (and there are plenty) to use it as another stick to beat him with. I know some of the lads here are brilliant at getting behind the team and being objective when judging players but he made a number of errors last night - two led to goals and two led to big chances for them where Alisson/poor finishing left us off the hook.

Anyway - I think I am "over" the game last night - mad that we are 4 points clear having played City twice and only lost once in 21 games.

          UP THE REDS.
          absolutely spot on.

The thing about Lovren is that when he's in a game that it's a physical or aerial battle he's fine but when he is up against pace, trickery or guile... he's in trouble.

I don't think he's a cunt, he's cocky but I just think he's a bang average defender who rates himself a lot more highly than anyone does & it usually ends up coming back to bite him on the arse. I would love to know how many passes he gave away, it got to farcical territory. Got some much of the ball, either passed it back to the keeper or booted it forward giving away possession and putting us on the backfoot. Constantly rushing out of position and leaving holes in behind which VVD covered so many times. Virgil lashed him out of it when he punted the ball up to nothing at the end. City pressed us high and Lovren is not as accomplished in possession & they honed in on that.

He has had an improvement since VVD came in but Virgil would probably improve Phil Jones tobe honest... but an improvement nonetheless. Clearly I do not rate him and have got a bit of **** about it but I couldn't care less. My thoughts are that he simply is not good enough to start for LFC, I would like to think that if everyone was fit that he would be our 4th choice... that soothes things a bit. Klopp comes to defend Lovren in the press and rightly so but I have no doubts that behind the scenes it is a different story.

The first goal was top class finishing but Lovren was ball watching and Aguero slipped in ahead of him and got that yard.. all he needs. I thought Trent was poor defensively but playing beside someone like Dejan who isn't exactly the calmest of defenders isn't a good learning curve for a kid.

I'm ok about the result, such fine margins in a game like that. No sending off, hit post, ball cleared off line, defensive lapse. They deserved it in the end and now we will see what our team is really made of.

that last minute lump up the pitch summed him up. Virgil was like "what the **** was that you stupid cunt???!"

Gomez to come back asap please. Matip 3rd choice.

Genuinely hope to see Lovren play against Wolves though.

Isn’t the keepers fault when they get beat on their near side? Not saying Lovern couldn’t have done better at tracking Augero.

I personally thought keeper should have done a bit better even if it was a sweet strike. He's a world class keeper.

...Aguero's shot was passed him before he knew it. Was like a bullet. Absolutely no chance of stopping that. If he'd got his hands to it, he'd have ended up in the back of the net with the ball...

Sometimes you just gotta give credit where it's due. Hell of a shot.

You'd normally say keeper at near post, but shot was a rocket. Would have been an unbelievable save.

Allison has made lots of unbelievable saves, well capable of it. Was a fabulous strike but I still think keeper can do better. Lovren asleep anyways and that lapse cost us.

Gotta say irishnev and danperkins are spot on, as usual. I too don’t have much time for the guy.

Despite being in the moment sometimes and calling him all sorts, I simply don’t think he’s good enough. And that his statements to the press are either ill advised or badly translated, generally setting him up for an immediate comeuppance!

I don’t think he cost us the game either. He should’ve done better against Aguero, in my opinion, but the multitude of other mistakes he made didn’t ultimately lead to a goal. They were, however, indicative of his level and ability - not sufficient for the level we’re trying to attain.

He really was poor yesterday, but he's been very good this year, much better than people give him credit for anyways, as he's an easy target due to his reputation from when he first joined. Picking on him because he's confident when answering questions that he's being asked is just ridiculous, as if he's somehow jinxed us or whatever? The fact that people somehow blame him for United's equalizer, for example, says it all.

The thing is, he's probably the best 3rd choice defender in the league, and that's exactly what he is - 3rd choice, a backup for Gomez, and since he was injured Lovren got to play yesterday.

Everyone is also forgetting he was facing probably the best attacking team in Europe, and yesterday they got the better of him. On the other end our front three were against ****in Danilo (!!!), an ancient Kompany who is fit to play every 1 in 4, John Stones whom everyone here considers to be a joke, and Laporte as left back, a decision by Pep which some of our fans actually celebrated yesterday! And they produced almost nothing, same as our midfield three. Not the first big game this season where that's happened, certainly more of those than of Lovren's **** performances. Maybe that's where some of the fume should be directed towards?

I think hes getting a little too much hate for what was a poor, but not super poor, performance. I mean hes had far worse. On that note I still want him gone.
