He's been good recently, gets a ridiculously hard time. He's clearly instructed to push on so mistakes defensively are inevitable, it's like accusing Dani Alves of neglecting his defensive duties. When the team is functioning, he is an asset, when the team is struggling he is exposed.

I wouldn't compare him with Alves just yet, the thing is, his attacking output hasn't been great, in terms of assist or goals, but he's been getting better and better, to the point he should warrant another season.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostHe's been good recently, gets a ridiculously hard time. He's nowhere near Alves level, but he is being asked to do the same job. When that much is asked from your full backs it's churlish that many complain about the odd mistake. If a full back attacking that high up the pitch is caught out of position, then the team should be covering for him. It's the system not the individual, and I'll venture that Moreno is a really good, attacking full back.
Modifying post.

It's not the odd mistake. His positioning on the pitch during attacking phases from the opposition is shocking. His crossing or critical pass in the final third during our attacking phases are poor. It's no surprise we're being heavily linked with Jonas (the German left-back), who apparently, can cross, make a critical pass successfully during attacks, and has good positioning on the pitch.
He's been better recently, which is encouraging, and I hope the introduction of a solid full-back will help his development in terms of learning.

He comes across as a really energetic, fun guy and it looks infectious. I bet he's great to have around and whilst that softens my opinion of him, he is capable of huge brain farts.
Buzzo's point is right in that playing him high up the pitch is a sacrifice Klopp seems willing to make and being exposed is inevitable. However, his love of going to ground or a little nibble at the oppositions' heels combined with his positional play means we can improve in this position.
Plus I have issues with players who can't use either foot. His whole body shape and even the direction he runs can be dictated by his left foot and doubly ****s up his positioning.
I like Moreno but bring in a higher quality left back and have him as back-up.

rather unfair on albie, as most leftbacks only use their right foot to step on the team busOriginally posted by Muddled View PostPlus I have issues with players who can't use either foot. Sure, there aren't many two-footed left backs but the majority at this level can execute a simple pass with their weaker foot. Moreno's lack of any right foot means he goes to tackle with the wrong foot and if you push him infield you know that he's going to be forced to pass back 99% of the time.Originally posted by SK View Postrather unfair on albie, as most leftbacks only use their right foot to step on the team bus
I like him, I hope he comes good and is given cup runouts on the left wing. I definitely think we can improve in this area but not necessarily with the urgency that we need to show when we address our 'keeper and midfield situation.
