Our lack of game control in the second half meant it all snowballed and players were exposed. Moreno is a lightening rod for mistakes because he is vulnerable if we dont have the ball and protect it in the right areas. Spot on this Nige.

Excellent you say. Nah, only as good as his last match. The cunt.

You see rather than him being unlucky last night I would suggest hes been lucky at times this season

Hes made errors but teams havent capitalised on them

For me hes not good enough to be a regular fullback for us

To me its not one or the other its both

Moreno isnt good enough as a fullback and parts of the midfield are a complete ****ing shambles

I have been banging on about it for a couple of years now, we dont win enough 2nd balls and how you can have a midfield player that consistently fails to win any tackles in matches playing for a Liverpool team is ****ing beyond me

It's incredible, really. Moreno's been doing so well, Klopp bigs him up, and then he plays against his former club away, and it goes tits up.

I do agree with Nige as well. Our control of the midfield was diabolical, and it left our defence exposed.

I thought it was interesting listening to Rio Ferdinand last night

He stated that LFC need a dominant centrehalf who not only puts his body on the line but leads and organises those around him

Not rocket science I admit but he then said that such a centrehalf should also be responsible for organising the midfield screening in front of him as he sees the whole picture better than a midfielder

I agree with that analysis, but my concern is also that, let's say we sign VVD in January, we can't expect him to suddenly do all that on his own. We need another intelligent defender in there. Look at Rafa's defenders. He always had at least two defenders on the pitch with the intelligence to see the bigger picture. That'd mean one of the full-backs.

I've heard Ferdinand mention that before, about defenders seeing the bigger picture, but it doesn't help when our midfielders don't have the greatest of game intelligence. There's a part of me hoping we go mad and sign Mascherano, Keita and Goretzka for next season, but somehow, I doubt it.

To me the defence side of things you can improve it by getting better personnel

Its how much improvement you will get thats the debate

With regards to the centrehalf directing the midfield whether they have intelligence or not if someone is screaming in their ear to do something it becomes hard to ignore after a while. The 2nd ball issue wont be improved without replacing the personnel imo

Something like that snowballs I think. I remember someone (not sure who!) saying that the AC Milan teams of the 90's / 00's were so tactically aware that they would change formation and style during the game without any instruction from the manager to suit the game, they were all just that good. Now to me..the way we started last night there seemed to be clear instruction to move the ball as fast as possible, break quickly, turn them around as quickly as we can. Obviously that worked in the first half. Second half..everyone can see it we needed to try and take the sting out of it, yet for a good 20 minutes we carried on in the exact same style, popping it off quickly and Karius doing daft **** like releasing the ball like it's on fire. That's not to say that we weren't attempting to change, i could see Lovren and Henderson (and Milner when he came on) attempting to get a grip of it, but for it not to permeate through the whole team you can only assume there are weak links in there or our supposed leaders aren't strong enough, or a combination of both I suppose.

Basically yeah, get more leaders in

All the top managers drone on about mentality and we still need more of it. Keeping a calm head is what separates the good teams from the top level ones for me.

Sevilla came out that second half and went for us. Moreno has been improved this season no question but improved on what? Let us be honest he has been absolutely poxy since joining us & this is probably the first game of the season in which a team has really come out and attacked us and exposed his fragility. Any side looking at that game last night will know our weak links & it is the same stuff all the time, defence and midfield.

For me, a few decent games this season can't erase the ****e 3 seasons prior to that. All the criticism he is getting for last nights game is more than justified & that type of performance is and will always be inevitable from Moreno. Klopp can try iron out mistakes and try improve Moreno defensively and say this and that in the media but you just can't change the mentality of a player. He is all over the place & is as scatty as they come.

He is not good enough, sick of having this ****ing conversation about the guy to be honest. Now after that **** show we have Chelsea up next, i hope that capitulation not not knocked the confidence as things really were looking really promising.

Anyways, I don't want to abuse the guy personally but he is just a **** defender and he is playing in a position that calls for him to do that from time to time. Not good enough... not by a long stretch.
Good post and totally agree, he's ****ing dreadful and you can't mask ****e at the end of the day.

Moreno is like the psycho that's come out of prison after years of good behaviour. Everyone is happy for him until he dissects the neighbour's dog. Same analogy applies to Lovren.

I just think the occasion got to him, he’s been excellent this season which has been a real impressive turnaround, but perhaps nerves , over enthusiasm and a lack of a cool head led him to make two mistakes which at this level, can and unfortunately did lead to goals.
Everyone has a bad game in them, and that won’t change. Games where nothing goes right also happen, and there are games where a better team or a better player can make you look a tit. It’s hapoened to Lovren, to mig, and Alberto. Fans turning on players who clearly are committed to the team and look like they’re giving their all, I can’t abide. Fans getting frustrated with the limitations of players we have, I understand. But frustration shouldn’t lead to hateful verbal abuse, like those nutters on Twitter having a pop at Lovren’s family.

1st bad game of the season? not really comparable with Lovren is it?

Henderson was appalling and has had more poor games having played less, some fans just can't wait to jump on him and be proved right.
