Man City - Build Up Thread

    V

    Man City v Liverpool
    25 Aug 2014, KO: 20:00

Liverpool's second Barclays Premier League fixture of the season sends Brendan Rodgers' team to reigning champions Manchester City.

The Reds opened their campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Southampton at Anfield.

In the corresponding match of 2013-14, Rodgers' side were narrowly beaten 2-1 by City, although they exacted revenge in the return by winning 3-2 on home soil.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

On preseason form, I was thinking this might be a good time to play City, but not just as confident now. Haven’t seen the City match yet myself, how did they play against Newcastle?

Am expecting the following line up, with hopefully Markovic and Moreno on the bench.

    ……………….Mignolet
    ManquilloSkrtelLovrenJohnson
    ………………...Gerrard
    ………Henderson………Allen
    Sterling……………….……..Coutinho
    ………..…...Sturridge

Hell yeah, already excited for it. Man C, while looking not their best yet, looked decent enough in their usual smart passing/possession game against Newcastle.

Our midfield against Southampton will get bypassed by the passing and power of Man C's, i.e., no more Gerrard and Lucas pairing please, Brendog.
I wear my heart on my profile name.

Was actually thinking after I posted that we might see Can instead of Allen to cope with the power of Toure.

There's no chance Lucas will play, but I'd expect it to be Allen rather than Can. I can see the logic in Can playing, but I just think they will view it as too much too soon for him.

I think the combined energy of Allen and Henderson should suffice; Henderson is good on his own but is even better when paired with another strong midfield runner. The presence of these two should give Coutinho more breathing space to do this thing as well.

I read elsewhere that Can is still finding his fitness, so starting the Man C match might be a match too soon.

If Johnson was as bad as made out, shouldn't we give Moreno a try?
                * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I'm pretty sure Moreno will go straight into the side

If we did risk Moreno (I don't think we will) I think we'd see Johnson move back to RB. Can't see us starting with 3 new defenders.

No TV information for a start.

                      Shoddy.

Dont need to match Toure's power, Joe Allen bosses these. Our best is an absolute style nightmare for them. They cant stand being pressed, Toure goes in to hiding and the rest struggle. Dortmund, Ajax, us, Bayern, Barca, sometimes Southampton, Swansea away it's the same sort of teams that always bother them. Dunno if we can do it for 90mins so early in the season but hopefully we can. Would also help if we cut out the annual goalie clanger there. Skrtel needs to be solid too, two seasons in a row he's cost us points v these, trying to kiss Kompany's shirt last season and playing an amazing through ball to Carlos Tevez the season before.

I created an exemplary thread for the Southampton game and we were poor so I'm hoping this half-arsed thread title will result in a thumping victory.

Just had a quick look on Blue Moon. They really are not looking forward to playing us.

Either that or they are all just a bunch of miserable ****ers like on here.

                              Erm...

They were horribly bad vs Soton. They have two pacey youngsters, the rest is gash. I was much more worried about Newcastle away. No chance of making top 4 this season. 3-1 win.
The Liverpool line up minus Suarez carries nowhere near the same fear factor, toothless you could say. Keep Sterling quiet and we will win comfortably. 3-1
hope we can win this comfortably. without suarez they wil be a different team.
Normally I love Kolarov, just think against Liverpool Clichy's pace will help.

That side would certainly contain their quick start. Then eventually with subs over power them.

Sergio, Nasri & Kolarov all game changers on the bench.
                              Mangala should debut against stoke
but for pool we should go in with mdm kompany partnership who have formed a formidable pairing

                              3-1

                              City
                              4-0 City

Last year they were sheep in wolves clothing

This year they'll get found out
I think this is our game and we'll kill 'em.
That's just from the first couple of pages. How much more confident do you want them to be?
