Thought Henderson and Gerrard were poor today, and both of those are vital to the tempo we play at. First time in my life I've wanted to see Gerrard get hooked, but today was that day. Personally I'd have gone with Lambert up top today alongside Ballotelli to give the lad some support - Markovic will get better and better, as crap as he was today always wanted the ball, never went missing and a few times tried to spark something.

I can't see what more Henderson needs to do tbh. He rarely gives the ball away, always fights to win it back and is always looking to move the ball forward in to space. He is an immense player now and totally pivotal to our team

I had a similar situation with a blackbird who decided to use our gaff as a safehouse.

Our cat caught it, I released it and 2 days later he turned up in the cupboard sitting on the Hoover.

First touch today was woeful - Big fan of Henderson, but today I thought he looked leggy, tired and half the time he spent chasing his first touch. Not doubting his spirit or determination, I just though he had a poor game considering what he's capable of.

Hate to say this but we missed Suarez today, for me only Coutinho and Markovic were willing to try and spin in behind Villa, too much was played in front of them

I just ventured on to the early days of the Hendo thread and it makes interesting reading. Lot's of folks writing him off, lot's saying give him a chance. I agree he has become pivotal for us.

Fair enough, didn't notice it was bad but I'm guessing he bought himself time to make amends. His long range cross field passing was excellent and was essential in creating movement and space where little was on offer, IMO. Coutinho in comparison was naive and played to their strengths by moving the ball inside. That said, he came closest to carving an opening.
