I can't see what more Henderson needs to do tbh. He rarely gives the ball away, always fights to win it back and is always looking to move the ball forward in to space. He is an immense player now and totally pivotal to our team

The Henderson that played today and v Southampton isnt anywhere near at the level of last season and v Spurs

I think our pressing and general tempo has been off in our two home games and I include Henderson in that

Dont get me wrong he would be a starter for me still but his level has dipped

remy would have been a more consistent scorer than balotelli. i think we only went for mario as it seemed it was a decent price, but still a bit of a risk.

it will be interesting to see if the reasons for not going for remy ever come out...

I am more concerned by lack of pressing and slower tempo, they are essential to our play and system

Goals will come if we move the ball quicker and press teams more, but the slow laborious play of today is a worry

First touch today was woeful - Big fan of Henderson, but today I thought he looked leggy, tired and half the time he spent chasing his first touch. Not doubting his spirit or determination, I just though he had a poor game considering what he's capable of.

Hate to say this but we missed Suarez today, for me only Coutinho and Markovic were willing to try and spin in behind Villa, too much was played in front of them

Thought Coutinho was poor today, in fact other than Moreno and Sterling when he came on we looked generally leggy, ponderous and ineffective in and out of possession

Such a bad performance, from defence right up the the frontline. Know doubts i'll get **** for this as it's early doors but I am far from convinced about Lovren.. he has been very poor since joining us. He didn't do much at Lyon, was ok for Southampton & suddenly he joins us and people think he's the missing link. I've read some people say he plays on the front foot etc that's another way of saying he vacates his position, gets sucked into play & loses his man. If eople think Skrtel is rash.. **** me this guy is a maniac. He literally has done this in every game he has played for us, talk about a rush of blood to the head. People blamed Skrtel beside him, but 'so far' he is not the master organiser some people have made out. As for Sakho, i don't think he has done anything to suggest to can become a top defender at LFC just yet. This may very well change in the future but at the moment we have a very obvious problem at CB. Finding a CB pairing at LFC is very worrying... i have no idea what the **** Rodgers is going to do there.

IMO today we just played too many new players. Manquillo,Lovren,Sahko, Moreno... ffs they were all over the shop when Villa actually bothered to attack. Senderos gave Lovren & Sakho an absolute nightmare....Phillip Senderos ffs he's a ****ing donkey and he looked like Franco Baresi!!!! We had Gerrard strolling around which is just not going to work unless he has two players in front of him covering the gaps and holes he keeps leaving... which leaves those played exhausted as it's a huge responsibility on the likes of Henderson,Allen,Lallana etc to cover for him. It happened all last season & so far this season nothing has changed. Henderson has improved massively and was poor today but ffs he was on his own in the midfield.

Lallana & Markovic were way way off, understandably so as both have been injured & have had little game time. Lallana's looked knackered & Markovic looked scarily lightweight. Coutinho will never be a consistent starter for LFC is he keeps on playing the way he is. Serious talent and ability but too inconsistent. Balotelli was a risky signing for sure, talented? Yes but his work rated was ****ing embarrassing & he got absolutely bullied by the Villa CB's and i hate to say it but.. he gave up. For such a big bloke.. he looked beaten which is not a good sight to see in any LFC player.

2 losses out of 4 games is not a good start. We have bought so many players.. that it's near impossible for things to gel straight away. What did we think we weren't going to get playing Manquillo,Lovren,Moreno,Lallana, Markovic & Balotelli in the same 11 ? A complete lack of understanding, cohesion, continuity & any sort of balance... and it showed royally!Pressing game? What pressing game? Non existent.

Aw it was so frustrating watching that game today. Sterling & Sturridge starting every game for us is vital!! And that's not going to happen. We've bought so many players and are trying to fit them into the team.. but it was always going to be difficult to do that straight away. Takes time for that & unfortunately there's no forgiveness in the premier league & the danger is falling far behind until we actually begin to click.

I do not share the same confidence people have shown in Lovren/Sakho pairing. Manquillo will not be a main stay all season he is a kid ffs & i've said previous that i don't think we'll see the best of Moreno until next season..add Mignolet to that back line and ffs it doesn't inspire confidence. At the moment it is impossible to pick a back line of 4 at LFC that you are 100% confident about.

I hate to come back to it again but Steven Gerrard, slowed play down so much ahead of the back line. Fades out of games most of the time, ponderous & slow in possession, leaves gaps and holes & occasionally sprays a beautiful 50 yard ball out wide. I love Stevie but by god does he put pressure on the defence & the midfield around him. I don't envy how Rodgers or any other manager will make a decision to eventually such a legend. it's something that i'm not quite sure how we get around.

I'm not saying Lovren, Lallana, Markovic, Manquillo, Moreno or Balotelli will be flops at all... but what do we expect playing all those new played in the same starting 11 in the 4th game of the season?? It really showed that it may take a bit of time for things to balance out & find out our strongest 11.

Indeed, we were very slow, it was all in front of them and we seemed intent on swinging crosses in all day, most of them poor quality and made ****ing Senderos look like the best CB in the world.

I usually subscribe to the pigeon / vermin theory. But this little guy isn't one of those sruffy diseases riddled ones. He's very neat. But somewhat lame. To let him out now would be to sentence him to certain death. But we can't keep him. What to do? How to do it? Poor Speckled Jim.

At face value, you're right in your observations. But. More than half of that team today are new. It's gonna take time to get them up to speed. And when they do, they will fly. This season will inevitably be a learning curve. A step backwards to go forwards.

Didnt watch the game as was having drinks with mates in a park for a friends birthday how did we play overall? Should have put a bet on. If i was right i would have made some money, if i was wrong we would have had 3 points
