Exactly this is a big problem IMO, he hasn't contributed at all this season, he'll be 35 at the end of the season and he has suffered lots of injuries throughout his career. I think he shouldn't be picked no matter what anymore.

For me this is the way we should line up vs Hull. Lots of pace & work rate around Gerrard, lots of movement and work rate in front of the defence & lots pace and guile up top. Vs Hull you need players to play around them. They are a huge side & having such stagnant CF like Balotelli/Lambert is playing right into their hands IMO. Much rather pace, guile & genuine progressive movement up top. Having Can in there always adds to the height to defend set pieces, i know it's not as simple as that but he's a big lad vs a powerful Hull side. He is not a DM but surely has the legs on Stevie in that position.

With regards to the defence I would bring Manquillo back in, should have never been bombed out for the hapless Johnson..regardless if he is only a kid. The 3 CB's are an issue so take your pick..personally i would have Skrtel/Sahko. Whatever combination seems doomed but IMO Lovren needs to be dropped. It's getting to the stage where Toure is maybe being considered..that's when you know things are desperate. LB, well Moreno will be good in time. Has done alright so far but I still remain after watching him a lot for Sevilla.. that we won't see the best of him until next season.

The keeper is a nightmare, you can bet your bollox that Hull will be pouting as many crosses into that penalty area as possible. No other viable options though at the moment. Valdes isn't much better IMO although has far more experience.

I'm loving Lallana at the moment and Coutinho too so this was a tough decision for me but we can't NOT play without a striker and if we do play with a striker, we have to play with two.

I think we have a better squad than this time last season. However losing Suarez has opened up a massive chasm that needs filling.

We should have done more to get a replacement in. But I dont think the rest was wasted.
