Also, what time should I leave the city at to get to anfield? I can imagine the bus from liverpool one will be super busy pre game?

Train to Sandhills (Northern Line from Central or Moorfields) and Soccerbus from there. Not sure of the cost but return train from Chester and return bus is £4.80 to probably a couple of quid at most

Get a bus from outside Doctor Duncan's on the street next to the bus station. A load of match day specials go straight up to the ground. Couple of quid for a return ticket.
