Not sure why Markovic is getting bad press, i thought he showed some real attacking talent, we looked really shy in their half but i thought he ran with the ball well. Needs to work on his holding game to bring more players in but he looked good.

I thought he played well as well. Not as much speed as I'd hoped (odd as he was lightning against City) but he had some nice touches and can beat a man. Reminds me of a skinny Patrick Berger. Only a young one so think he will get better.

Markovic needs confidence, he also needs to play regular. Always difficult for young players coming into a team playing badly, can be a real confidence destroyer as you can with Sterling too. Needs a bit of man strength too.

I was very happy with the overall performance last night. Had a plan, had an identity and gave the best team in club football a good game. We never have enough quality to score but at least we learnt from our experience at Anfield vs Real. All the hysteria from idiots in the media makes it seem like we our 'best XI' would have wiped the floor with Real. Not like we rested players when we were flying. Nobody who didn't play last night had a real massive case to have played last night. Sterling and Gerrard the only two who you might say were rested. The rest have been dismal in recent weeks and to be fair, Sterling has been awful bar the QPR game since the Hodgson debacle.

Kolo and Lucas absolutely should be starting Saturday. Gerrard in for Allen and Sterling for Markovic but other than that, it might be the same XI. Balotelli just isn't worth using till Sturridge is available. Borini isn't good enough but playing Chelsea, we need somebody to annoy the **** out of John Terry/Cahill and Borini might well do that.

I tell you what, you've got to be very confident that refs will give you free kicks for falling over to do what Ramos did with the Borini disallowed goal. Last man, takes a dive leaving a one-on-one at only one nil up. I guess the confidence was well placed ultimately but it strikes me as a bit rash.

Agreed. I thought he was decent too. The problem is that a lot of our "fans" love a scapegoat and Markovic is just the latest one in the cross-hairs. It was ever thus.

I think he showed more of the same. He ran when he had space to run but did nothing with it, just crapped his pants when he came up against a defender. I don't think he's being scapegoated for us losing, I don't think people are that upset about the result.
