Don't dive in but at least get your body in the way so the opposition can't waltz passed you.
He's a good player going forward but a liability in defence.
Having him and Sterling in the same side is a bit of a luxury at the moment when the team needs to be able to grind our results.
Its not just Coutinho you could say the same about Sterling, Allen and even GerrardBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

As always I'll defer to those with greater technical knowledge of tactics, formation etc but simply for me:
1. We're not going to stop conceding goals.
2. We're not going to score very many goals.
3. Rafa has been our only manager to get the best out of Gerrard. Gerrard no longer has a "best" that merits an automatic starting place in any position, yet he's bombproof and seems central to Rodgers plans despite offering nothing either in attack or in a defined defensive role.
I cannot see where an improvement is going to come from.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

Allen was good today and seeing as this is the post match thread I don't see what you're trying to achieve tbh by criticising a player who performed well, why not post your ****e in the Joe Allen thread ?Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont like him because hes a nothingman
There have been players in the past that dont look great but do a job but I dont see anything with him
He is weak, easily bullied, doesnt win enough possession, plays constant sideways and backwards passes that put you under pressure
Oh and as for Downing I detested him from even before we went for him becausehe was mentally weak and a chicken

Why have a go at Allen today (in the post match thread)? He was one of our better players. Lec - you are basing your judgement on preconceived ideas.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont like him because hes a nothingman

First and foremost you have to compete, press the ball and compete for 2nd ballsOriginally posted by JohnDoe View PostYou can't grind out results without being able to defend.
We havent done that nearly enough this seasonBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

If your Henderson for example and you have Suarez and Sturridge scoring for fun ahead of you how much easier does you job become? I also imagine it helps a great deal in lifting your game. When the going gets tough though..Vive la France

No I am basing it on what I saw todayOriginally posted by Rigadon View PostWhy have a go at Allen today (in the post match thread)? He was one of our better players. Lec - you are basing your judgement on preconceived ideas.
He was bullied by physically stronger players like most of the teamBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Still he had a much better game than Gerrard who offers nothing at all. No defensive cover and is excused time and again as a deep playmaker who doesn't make anything happen.Originally posted by Lecter View PostNo I am basing it on what I saw today

Our midfield wasn't great last season and our defence has been made worse with the addition of Lovren. Suarez and Sturridge were the top two scorers in the league, that's why we finnished second.
50+ replaced by at max 15
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

I think they are both equally as badOriginally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostStill he had a much better game than Gerrard who offers nothing at all. No defensive cover and is excused time and again as a deep playmaker who doesn't make anything happen.
Both offer nothing at either end of the pitchBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
