Not been impressed with majority of his signings over the past few windows, and was furious about Lovren and balotelli. Didn't want Borini, didnt want Markovic, didnt want a bunch of others we thankfully didnt manage to sign. I dont have faith in him buying players. I'm also furious at seeing the same rubbish tactics of defenders passing the ball a billion times amongst themselves. Tired of seeing Lovren on the field. Physically ill at seeing johnson still playing for us, and seeing they tried to offer him a ****ing 2 year extension as reward for being ****house. Would rather gerrard be a sub otherwise removed altogether. Stunting coutinho something stupid with our useless non movement. I'm expecting an outright anal rupture when UTD destroy us.

So frustrated I could give myself a paper cut.

I think skrtle is being played out of position on the right of the two CBs.

It's no coincidence his performances improved greatly last season when Carra came back into the side in place of Agger and Skrtle was shifted from RCB to LCB. Carra said as much himself

Lovren for instance cant even stay goalside of players and what the **** he was doing for their second goal yesterday god only knows. Why is he so far over, why is he then not goalside, why is he getting outmuscled by the forward

        Its criminal

A holding player wont stop Skrtel or Lovren being ****
Skrtel seemed to look like he knew what he was doing under. Rafa..... Still ridiculously holding shirts, but other than that he looked sound enough positionally. Lovren looked a good player at Southampton, I didn't see him at Lyon but he earned a move to the premier league on the back of it for a hefty fee.

It's no coincidence that most clubs who change managers suddenly get an upturn in form which eventually fizzles out. Players suddenly start believing again and do their damnedest to impress the new boss. What we see at Liverpool is a side with zip confidence. It doesn't take much to change, it needs just a couple of wins. Away to Ludogorets and home to Stoke, couldn't ask for better fixtures. Winnable, but they mean so much to this season that 2 wins would have them bouncing again.

It will not be easy to win the next two games in our current state, but if we are to arrest the decline, it has to happen eventually, and I see no reason why it can't be these two games as opposed to any others. I don't think we will become a top side again overnight, I think we lack a goal threat in behind teams without Sturridge. But these players full on confidence can do a job to keep us in the hunt for fourth until January.

IF they start performing that is. And it must be now to save the season.
        Forwards.......

I thought Carragher played left side during his last year

No, Skrtel was dropped for him, Carra played with Agger.

I don't particularly rate Vorm or Williams myself. But it's hard to argue they wouldn't have improved us. Vorm definitely fits the profile of the kind of keeper he needs, whilst Swansea did look fairly solid under Rodgers with Williams at the helm.

You could argue (and you'd be right) and say that signing rubbish doesn't mean average players would have been the right answer, but you have to wonder if a small upturn in form at the back would have seen us lift the title last season..... And not have us all over the place this year.

I didnt watch Lovren until he joined us, but I know a few said he was utter turd at Lyon.

Skrtel had Carragher alongside him most of the time, one of the best positional players there has been

Personally I think Carragher made Skrtel look ok as he covered for him so much

I dont think its confidence either

Its basics like starting position and being goalside they are fundamental problems not just confidence issues

There is no chance that they suddenly click and its all hunkydory that sounds like total wishful thinking either that or you have been listening to Brendan too much

                  Depressing me this is.

Really concerned for our club, feel for Rodgers too as he did so well last year.

Breaking my heart this is and seeing how woeful we've become.

Ayre is doing a good job, footballing decisions are not his forte, but I doubt he has much imput on them.
If you are going to have a committee like us, I want that to be made up of football men i.e. people with a background in football. Ayre should be in the sponsors and marketing IMO.

Then there is the debate about a committe, again only my opinion but having suc a thing removes the accountability towards the manager.

Wasnt there a stat posted the other day that said that Rodgers' sides have regularly conceeded 50 goals per season in the league including his time at Swansea???

This tends to debunk the theory that they were "solid" at the back

all but one season i think where they conceded about 40 goals

Have just checked his first season in the Premier League Swansea conceeded 51 goals (LFC conceeded 40 that year)

His first season with us we conceeded 43 (Swansea conceeded 51 again that season), with 50 conceeded by us last year (54 conceeded by Swansea)

Skrtel has always been ****, always.

On Lovren, he defended perfectly well in the Southampton side with Clyne and Shaw as full backs so he's used to having space to defend down the sides of him.
What Lovren isn't used to is also having to defend the ball into the front mans feet as Wanyama and or Scheiderlin used to cut that off allowing him to defend the ball in behind.

I honestly think if you pair Lovren with either Toure or Sakho for 4-5 games in a row with Lucas, Can even Allen sat in-front as a proper defensive midfielder you'd get a marked improvement.

We bought Lovren to be a front foot defender, at Southampton he attacked most things and Fonte covered, with Skrtel they both want to be the defender attacking the first ball and both of them get caught out making the wrong decisions time and time again.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.
