Markovic did more in his little spell than the whole team in the first half. Great little cameo.

        Great free kick from Gerrard.

Lambert was ****, we looked more threatening without a striker.

        Sterling was frustrating.

        Henderson was ****.

        Lucas was ****.

        Johnson was ****.

        Enrique was ****.

        Rest were ok.

        Brendan needs a slap.

I agree But the players are mainly the same as last season's. However, the manager's team selection (lack of consistency, showing faith in players that are playing poorly, not picking players that are 'doing well') and his complete lack of game plan (midfield is all over the place, don't know how to use Lambert {or Balotelli}) - it's been very poor all season.

I'm usually all for giving players a lot of time to bed in, but Lovren is in the Aly Cissokho category imo, just can't see him having a future at LFC. too rash every time he plays.

Bad performance (first half) and bad team selection yet again from Rodgers. I hope he sorts it out quickly as we need his fluid football to come back sharpish.

Saw some positives today, not that gutted about exiting the CL (I set myself to be out this round or next round anyway):

We're in Europa. People are knocking it but this season its a different beast. There's a real prize at the end of it and once we're back in the groove we'll be one of the hardest teams in it. Our players desperately need European experience, this will provide it.

Lovren wasn't totally ****e. In fact he worked hard to reach average or a smidgeon above. That's huge progress in my mind. The month out has helped him settle down and play properly, we're going to need it against utd.

Markovic is beginning to look a player. Just small glimpses but he's a lot stronger all of a sudden and is looking faster. Great touch too. He has to start against that Utd back line.

Most importantly that red card. It might be the best thing that happens to us this season. It finally galvanised us, which in turn galvanised the supporters. We finally remembered how we are better than most teams out there and started playing that way. I reckon we can take that on to the Utd game.
                  One tit for another.

That team was ridiculously defensive. We had to win the game and we were at home. They were definitely beatable, we just needed to attack them. I still can't believe Rodgers selected such a negative team. Markovic looked lively and we worked hard when he got sent off. Brendan got that massively wrong.

                      Positives?

                      Eh...

Markovic looked bright. Moreno and Coutinho were at least brave when they came on, wanting the ball rather than hiding. Skrtel and Lovren didn't look as terrible as usual. Maybe they might manage to be less than rubbish if they can have a DM in front of them. Sterling worked, and worked and worked. That he's carrying us so much when he's a kid is shocking.

Negatives. The 'performance' for 80 minutes. Joe Allen. What is he for? Picking a team for the first 45 with no movement at all up front. Picking players to thread balls in behind for a striker who can't make those runs. Then picking a team for the second 45 with no striker. And lots of width. Joe Allen. Cutting your nose of with Borini to spite our whole CL campaign. Joe Allen. The fact that it was difficult to think of a worse, flatter, shambolic performance than the first 45 in recent years. And the fact that the problems with that performance were so predictable from the teamsheet.

I know he is not a conventional forward but perhaps a gamble on Markovic up front is an option. He will definitely give you a lot of running and effort and does have the pace to easily get in behind defenses.

No idea whether he could then finish off chances but the very fact that someone other than sterling has the pace to break the line gives the opposition more to worry about.

Without Sturridge nobody is currently capable of having the pace and intelligence to run these lines bar Sterling

Last year, Suarez, Sterling or Sturridge would go clean through with a brilliantly timed run and sometimes also have one of the other two beside him to square into an empty net.

If Sterling was to even get such an opportunity this year, who has the pace to keep up with him while Sturridge is injured.

Agree if on Saturday he binned Johnson Lovern Enrique , Gerrard, Allen and Lambert he would actually start regaining my respect but sadly he won't

Manquillo,Moreno,Lallana & Can should all be banker starters....should. If it wasn't for Sahko lack of game time i'd have him in for Lovren like a shot.
