I can't work out why Enrique started in front of Moreno, I thought maybe Moreno wasn't fit, but no he looked fine when he came on. I quite like Enrique but he's not played much and Moreno is one of our better buys and streets ahead of Enrique at the moment.

There were some very strange choices, pressure is showing on Brendan.

Manure Sunday, losing is as always unthinkable especially as they are playing crap as well. If ever we need a good performance it's now.

And it could get even worse on Wednesday. Unbelievably the mighty Bounemouth look like a real threat.

I found it strange last night as normally I get the right hump when we play badly and I have a news blackout for a day or two to get over it but last night I wasn't too bad because I sort of expected it. This is not right, my faith is being tested, please get us back playing well Brendan.

I think Moreno has a lot to learn, but he's largely better than most of our FB options, certainly more suited to how we were supposed to approach that game last night. A completely wasted change FFS.

I guess when you haven't got a striker to bring on, Brendan thought what the hell !
Probably as another '**** you' to Borini - 'I'd rather be having to make a ridiculous substitution and spite myself, than give you a place on the bench'

That team selection last night was pure madness.

Having no striker on the bench was just ridiculous. He really showed Borini alright... by getting us knocked out of the champs league.. take that Borini!!

Enrique needs to be sold, he's a car crash of a defender. Moreno is still raw but far better than Enrique. More curious than ever to see his team selection vs United.

In an ideal world, Enrique, Johnson, Lovren, Allen and Lambert would never start another game for us. Useless players all.

However, in our current situation, they're all going to play a lot.

I bet he's been told he has to sell to buy and so he's doing his best to push borini out. It can be the only explanation for not having a striker on the bench.

The most annoying thing was early in the match last night was that it was clear the full backs were on another bender.
Think it was Glen's first touch and he immediately gave the ball away and put us under pressure, and then there was Jose's little foray up the pitch that resulted in him struggling back to foul the player.

Just put my head in my hands at that point....thinking about the amount that's being paid out every week to those pub players.

That line up it was clear to see we had no width or pace. Playing against a very workmanlike team that just needed a draw... it actually makes no sense. At the best of times we haven't been able to score goals... they idea of lining up so negatively, nicking a goal and not conceding sounds crazy! Especially when you consider the way we've played this season...which has been not scoring goals and conceding lots.

I get why Lovren had to come in, he destroys our defence but Sakho starting would have been silly considering he's only back from injury. But starting Johnson & Enrique, he really does seem to like Johnson. I'm not saying Manquillo is amazing or anything but Glen Johnson is a disaster. Moreno being benched for Enrique... well i don't think anyone can explain that one.

He's freezing Borini out so Borini will leave but with no others strikers thats cutting your nose off to spite your face. So many bad decisions & seemingly every week. Dreading the United game.

In a system like we played last year Allen is a key role I feel, however we're not adopting that philosophy at the moment. We just seem to be crossed galore.

Johnson shouldn't but will play against Manure as he's experienced in games like that. That by no means is saying he's good, he's bloody awful but I know he'll play as Manquillo isn't there yet.

Enrique shouldn't get a look in. Moreno is a quality player. Considering his performance last night I'd expect Johnson to be ahead of him in the LB backup to be honest.

Lambert was a good backup plan B buy (I hope). The mistake was then buying Ballotelli afterwards and not a striker suited to our style of play of last season which was high intensity pressing from the front and running in behind. It's not his fault that he's being played as a lone striker, who's having to come out wide on occasions to give an option, he's not that type of player.

Personally I'd be giving Borini a chance but obviously Rodgers doesn't agree. He's not great and we need much better, but with our current predicament I'd rather him than Lambert or Ballotelli.

That's what is so mystifying. We have a massive striker problem and a young, hungry striker who hasn't been given the opportunity. However much you doubt whether Borini will perform for us, he at least deserves a chance.

100% agreed with that sentiment. Its like buying Allen to playing a certain way, then putting him in goal, then shouting at him for being so small and useless everytime he puts on the shirt.

He's in a no win situation at Liverpool at the moment. And again not sure where Rodgers is going with his long term strategy here. That's the first time I've questioned his long term vision, otherwise I am a fan of his.

Would Borini have made a difference ? I bet he would've been another player receiving abuse today. We need strikers badly this transfer window.

Some of the comments are unfair of Enrique as you can see he is not up to match speed. Obviously he should not have been selected but that is not his normal level, he had hardly any match fitness up to that point. I'm not his biggest fan but he is not as bad as some make out

The saddest thing about all this is that we didn't lose because of individual performances and there's no scapegoat. Pains me to say it, but Rodgers has lost the plot completely

I believe we had the players on the bench to take that game to Basel but our manager completely bottled it. It's so different from the man last season. I thought we'd found a middle ground in the last 3 games before this but we went back into disarray first half vs Basel.

Allen has been singled out, and he was poor but I also though Lucas was poor, Gerrard was poor and Henderson too. Their roles are either not defined enough or too congested and confusing. Only player to take credit over 90 minutes was Sterling.
