Helped us in a way today.

Both teams struggled to control the ball and as such any pressing and they were immediately under pressure. Quite a few players on both teams had issues early on and treated the ball like a grenade for the rest of the game for fear of ****ing up.

On another pitch our pressing is too slow today, but because players had to take extra touches, we got away with it. Most teams play on a top pitch so I think if anything it does benefit us as we will get used to its state and know how to play it.

City didnt press us at all today

I thought their midfield was very static today

For the most part you're right, I should clarify as anytime an individual player closed down an opposition player, the opposing player found it more difficult on this pitch than what they would normally do so. Reason being they had less time to look around and pick a pass due to having to take extra time & concentration to bring the ball under control.

With no game on it for a while and only one game a week from now till the end of the season, we should be able to get it looking a bit better, weather permitting.

All well & good, ****e pitch suits limited teams if they play long ball. I think the game plays out the same at Ewood tbh.

I thought that was because they raised the stadium up on all sides and it the no longer got enough light?

But we used to have one of the best pitches didn't we? Along with Arsenal?

How long does it take to relay a pitch?

Get the cranes on the pitch the second the last home game is finished- sort out what it needs to.

Then relay the pitch as soon as the cranes are off- can easily do both over pre-season, surely

IIRC Palace re-laid their pitch mid season, why can't we if it is that bad?

...sounded like the issue with relaying it now was access to the stadium as the development work outside is well underway. In the summer there's less time pressure, plus they can plan in better access during the work schedule.

It's not just the pitch - the irrigation & drainage systems need replacing too; it'll mean digging around a metre or so depthwise
