      Shouldn't base things on pre season, but on this evidence alone he has not looked out of place. He received plenty of the ball which showed the players on the pitch trusted him too.

      Big ask to expect him to play regularly, but I wouldn't be too concerned if we had to play him in the Premiership at full back. In fact, if we were considering a back up LB to Moreno, we may just take a pause for thought.

        Alot of players look good in pre-season, the test comes in the competitive games. If he can play LB that is the place to try and bring him through for now to get experience in the side and in the league as back up to Moreno. Last season Moreno was rested or rotated a fair bit, if the same happens again there should be a decent few chances for him to play there, plus cup games etc.
        The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

          Illori can play LB too. I'm very interested to see what plans we have for him this season. It was up in the air with regards Wisdom, Gomez & Illori. We now know Gomez is staying, now it's on to the other two.

            Is Ilori left sided? I had in my head he was right. I guess if so that makes Wisdom our only real option as a back up RB at the moment (with Flanagan out).

            Given that Wisdom has been out on loan a couple of times I would imagine that this is the season he has to establish himself (i.e. get a decent number of first team games under his belt and start challenging for a first team place) or move on at the end of the season.

            Ilori although the same age as Wisdom seems a little further behind in his development, he too has had a couple of loan spells but where Wisdom had ~60 games in the Championship or Premiership, Ilori has had about 20 in Spain and France. He could probably do with some PL experience before he is pressing for a place here, so he may need another loan spell before he is ready to challenge for a place here. TBH I wouldn't be suprised if he was moved on without ever playing for us.

            If Gomez is staying I suspect him and Wisdom will be the two closest to the first team. But that is just my (uninformed) opinion.

              I have seen Illori for two games for the U21s and Gomez for two preseason games. If they are anything to go by there is an ocean of difference between the two.

                  ilori seemed to be RB at club and LB for country. maybe they were fitting him in to accomodate someone else at RB for under 21s.

                                As I posted in the Stoke post-match thread, I was impressed by the way he learned as the game went on today. He made a couple of naive mistakes but corrected them, and it was a very impressive debut given the context of his age and lack of experience.
