Come on... Matip had been fantatic for us fir years, and apart from this seasin, has hardly puts a foot wrong. Gomez, Konate and VVD have all look ropey at times this season. You cant just write Matip off on the basis of a month where everyone has been ****e, or on a single game where Gomez hasnt looked terrible.

It's simply standard Joe Gomez to stand off players and make several mistakes in games, some of which his pace covers for. He should not be starting for LFC, it's pretty much as simply as that. Been saying it for years about him not closing down attackers quick enough. That was a car crash performance from a sub standard CB when you have someone like Matip on the bench, who although not playing his best is solid and dependable.

During our title winning season, Gomez was first choice.

He played in 28 games, all next to the best CB in world football at the time, and in front of the best goalkeeper. And he was misjudging headers etc then too.

He is Lovrenesque in that he has one too many ****ups in him. Not reliable

Matip is far superior,and Konate while raw, far more solid. Phillips would be above him... and yes I know he is not top quality and slow... but he knows this and plays accordingly.

Having Gomez inside of Trent is like playing Russian Roulette.

As much as people will blame Ali for that **** up on the second goal, Gomez was as much to blame. He's put a back pass to him unnecessarily with Vini running straight at him.

He easily could've just passed to the side to Trent, which is where Ali was then playing the ball anyway.
