Come on people. He can both play well and make a mistake, no need to try and argue black is white. He made a mistake, got away with it and more than made up for it with the rest of the performance, it’s not worth arguing about.

Fair enough, but it was almost certain that despite being excellent throughout, LR was gonna chip in and find another way to have a go at Gomez.

I still don't blame him for the slip either, could happen to anybody. Even if it had of resulted in a goal, I don't think it's the same as Trent's mistake last week.

That being said, I'll maybe see it differently when I watch MOTD later, maybe his body positioning or footing was to blame, but all I remember was the good defending to get himself where he was in the first place.

You won't find a technically better CB than Gomez.

He's still young for a CB, hopes are up that he can sty fit and become the player he should have been, signs are promising, hasn't lost pace etc. Come on Joe.

He was a big winner from yesterday Led the line well, cool head and overall an excellent game. He can really push on with that performance.

Excellent again today. Heard so often in the past how he's not a RB, some say he's not a CB, a select few even say he's not a footballer, but keep him fit and he's an elite footballer.

Not sure what role exactly he played today, seemed a hybrid version of the hybrid role, so not sure if it was instinct kept him wide or design, but it was an impressive performance regardless.

He can look a bit painful when getting forward, but defended well. Hopefully he can get some confidence back.

I think we look more solid defensively when he’s playing than when Trent is playing the hybrid role.

Looking solid, and his confidence is growing. Still pretty average going forward as a RB, but he's defended well and covered loads of ground all over the pitch.

Fingers crossed he can get a good run at it without getting another bad injury, he's still right in the sweet spot age wise.

I don't care about him going forward. But it's great to see him in this form. He's been through a lot and would be lovely if he forced his way into a CB role.

I thought he looked great moving with the ball into midfield, not quite Matip levels of twinkletoes but certainly assured enough.
