Might be tricky for Robbo to get back in the starting line up before the end of the season tbh
He's been fantastic, how valuable is it to have a versatile player like him who can play well across all the back line! Happy for him too after that horrible injury, but at the same time a little bit worried that we could be over playing him.
* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
I have always liked him as a player, and I live the way he has thrown himself into the challenges he has been asked to take on this season...not only all the positions in a back four but also the half positions and inverted positions.
We ARE more balanced going forward with a left footer at left back though.
So what happens when Robertson declares himself fit & ready, does he come back in straight away or does he have to wait as not needed whereas Joe has done a fantastic job at left back?
I'm convinced that since putting Joe in at left back, VvD feels a lot more secure on that side & we have been stronger defensively so that's a testament to Gomez while providing a good outlet in attack as he seems to have gotten better game by game.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!
It’s an interesting interview. He doesn’t sound the brightest but definitely has a lot of emotional intelligence and has his head screwed on. A nice humble guy. The stuff about the current squad culture is interesting and kind of reaffirmed what I suspected, ie the dressing room had gone a bit stale, hendo and Milner were sucking the fun out of the group. There’s a lot more to squad management that playing football.

Its amazing to have these sort of options at the back, for me, Gomez is the man in possession of the shirt for now. We have the best defensive record in the League.
But, Robbo offers something different so it may be horses for courses.

If TAA and Robertson come back at the same time then one should have to get used to the idea of having to work hard to displace someone rather than walking back into the team imo.
Gomez does not deserve to be dropped from the starting line up.
We have shown this season that we are not dropping off when Robertson is out and we are not dropping off when TAA is out.
The players who came in deserve a fighting chance to keep their places and should only lose them if their form dips.
For my money our team only has a few guys in it who could be said to be irreplaceable enough to warrant walking back into the starting line up after time out and those for me are Alisson, VVD and Salah. Think it is a great complaint to have when you have so many players capable of coming in when others are out and making positions their own.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yeah Robbo doesn’t deserve to displace Joe at present so he’d be eased back in my opinion. How has played a lot of football so could do with just playing one game a week for a while.

The prospect of dropping Bradley for TAA is far more understandable than Gomez for Robertson.

My thinking was more Gomez stays in the team at either RB or LB leaving one of TAA or Robertson needing to wait for their chance to return.
Gomez has shown himself to be a quality replacement for both players this season imo and his performances have not dropped on either flank.
I understand you now and Gomez seems to be excelling at both full back positions - that cross for Nunez's second goal was every bit as good as TAA can produce.

I wouldn’t look at it as one player getting dropped and another walking back in as much as good rotation.
If we have fit options available then there’s no need to be flogging anyone every game, twice a week, every week.
Yep, this is the answer, there are enough games for everyone. In the big games Gomez is the man in possession, but, he needs to perform to keep the jersey, and, we need to not be in a position where we are having to flog one player to death.
