Name one side in world football whose success depends on one player as much as we do.

Maybe Arsenal and Henry at a push...

            Correct.

            He simply cannot leave.

People who would sell him for £30m are clearly not right in the head. Okay I rate Rafa, but after his recent signings - namely Pennant and Bellamy - would you be confident that he could improve the side with money gained by selling Gerrard?

Put it this way I wouldn't like to find out.

There's no such thing as a 1 man team or anything close to it.

Really the question is why is Gerrard playing so poorly. If it has to do with factors that we can't control or improve then there is zero benefit to having him here. This season he has been mediocre and we have had to alter the shape of the team one way or another to accomodate him. So in effect for all the potential he has and ability he has shown in the past we would be better of selling him as his poor form has a disproportional effect on the team if he continues to play beneath his expected standard. If he gets back to his best or we can get him back to his best then we would be fools to sell him.

To be fair to him against Boro he showed willing to pay a disciplined deep game and other players let the team down. I think that ultimately we will just have to give the situation time. Stevie has proven all doubters wrong in the past - I hope he can do it again.

oh right, second name I look for is Stephen Warnock, and then third I just double check we haven't recalled Salif Diao.
