He had a ton of money to spend in the summer.

He should've picked the formation he wanted, moved the players he has available into the side into positions they fit, and then in the places he lacked players, spent the money accordingly.

If he'd have done this every transfer window we'd have a clear way of playing and plenty of players who fit the system & style. Instead we are a mess.

I think the writing is on the wall. I suspect BRs argument / stance in the summer was "well it's not MY transfer committee.......I didn't want Balotelli....I didn't want Markovic.....i didn't want Manquillo.......I didn't want Moreno". That would certainly tie up to Ian Ayre's public comments that "the manager has been given the players he asked for this summer"

The funny / ironic part being that Rodgers DID want Lovren......he DID want Lallana.......

I remember him. He was in charge of Chelsea and took them to the CL final. It turned out to be a complete fluke and in reality he'd just struck gold at landing the Chelsea job at the right time.

The longer this drags on, the more Rodgers looks to have fluked 13/14. To be honest Rodgers isn't that bad, maybe Roberto Di Matteo would be a better Chelsea example.

I think it is difficult to argue that 2013-14 was down to Rodgers given his inability to get close to that again either in terms of results or performances.

Three at the back is never going to work as a long term solution. Unbelievable that we have gone for desperate measures only 6 games into the new season.

I'd like to see Sturridge starting this one. Some more minutes and a goal or two against lesser opposition would be ideal preparation with 90 minutes at Everton the longer term aim.

Where does this 'provisional squad' come from? Sounds like made up media BS to me. There is no way we would name a 25 man squad for this game, unless we have to register players for them to be eligable to play in the competition, but I don't think we've had to do that before.
