Been reading what Gay McAllister had to say in the build up. He talks a good game IMO, like what he had to say, he should do this instead of Rodgers. He's grounded and seems to take the situation seriously. He put a good spin on the questions about the fans as well:
McAllister also views it is a positive that supporters are voicing disapproval at results, believing it would be an alarming sign if the Kop suddenly accepted the club was not challenging for honours. “It impresses me that there are still those grumblings from the fans,” he said. “If you lose that and it does become accepted it not’s going to be right. And that won’t happen here. It will be driven through by the frustration of the fans.
“We’ve got to be competing right at the highest level. It’s how I see Liverpool. I just associate it with winning things. That [hostile reception to the Norwich result] has got to be a good thing and that’s got to be the driving force for our players and they’ve got to put that right.”
* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

McAllister should do what? All media related commitments?
I guess that's understandable though, he needs to get some rhythm and confidence going. But it could backfire big time if he doesn't get a result.
Whilst ideally I would have liked Rodgers to play a mixture of youth and first-teamers, I can understand why he would go with a strong line-up. After last year's run to the semi-final and the pressure he is under, he probably sees this as a trophy within his grasp.
It's nuts IMO. I know he'll feel the team needs to get into the winning habit, breed confidence etc, but it looks like self-preservation to me. I don't give a **** about the League Cup, we need to get back into the CL (yeah right). We've got a massive squad now, use the ****ing thing. If we pick up an injury to a key player tonight - against 4th division Carlisle......
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I can understand why he does it, but like I said it can backfire big time, with an injury or even if we fail to get a result. We should give Origi and Firmino games, Can needs to find his form in midfield so since we are going to play three at the back I think Gomez should get a game there.
We'll suffer for this later in the season with tiredness and injury but if he doesn't start getting results he won't be around when that happens so he's happy to take the risk.
