Haha true but I know exactly what he means. Someone in that price bracket, someone mobile who fits the way we play. If you're gonna spunk £30m+ it's got to be a world beater and Benteke ain't that.

Anyway I don't wanna be negative today, that was better. We're better trying to win every game 3-2 than 1-0.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He has his lapses of concentration but how old is he, 21? When he's played centre midfield, he hasn't looked as good IMO. System suits that team at the moment. Not sure it will when Can is injured for example, as Gomez is a more defensive player, so we'll have to tweak it a bit.

If you look at the current midfield, it is like a diamond, with Milner and Coutinho a bit further up of Lucas who sits deep and Sturridge or Ings dropping in that pocket further forward. The wing backs gives us that width, so I think both systems are quite similar.
      Are we winning?

It's exploding more when he hasn't been getting results.

I gave Vardy as an easy example for people to see as everyone knows how Vardy plays. He charges about all game and fights for lost causes, just as Ings has done for us. Neither are top quality tbh.

I'm sure there are better similar players we could've signed. He should have last summer instead of Balo and he should've done it this summer instead of Benteke.

I like Can. I guess had Rodgers know he was gonna fail at 433 he could have signed a better RCB who would've suited it better. And kept on Illori so we can rest players when playing this formation. Illori - Lovren - Gomez would've been a decent backline for the cups, Toure as back up to cover injuries.

i much prefer the ings and sturridge combo to ings/sturridge with benteke but its good to have options.

the wrong thing to do is to change the way we play just because benteke is playing, he is still very decent on the deck and although there is an option for him to win headers we shouldnt just ping it long to his head if he is in the goal area as he will be covered by two centre backs.

with ings/sturridge and coutinho getting close to benteke they will help each other and allow better interplay. when we have had benteke on he has mostly been isolated.

and how long before we put a 30m bid in for gestede. villa got him for 6m
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Rodgers wants his 433 to work and Benteke was bought to fit that system. I guess the idea is for us to use it in some games, and have Ibe and Llallana either side of Benteke and maybe give Sturridge a bit of a rest.

That is the way to play for sure, **** the dire slow stuff.

End to End entertain the fans and he might hang on to his job.

I don't dispute the system (well, I do actually), but it worked today.

Exactly this. To spend so much money and again be relying on Can in a back 3 is madness. He was found out last season, and will be targeted again.

Still, a much needed win today.

I think the idea was 433 & it was to have Sturridge wide coming in to support. Probably to have Couts or Lallana on the other side offering creative support. Maybe Firmino? I don't know tbh with Rodgers.

Great to have a buzz after a win and also creating loads of chances.

Rest Daniel for midweek and have him raring for the derby

Modern day football is going more & more towards high intensity and aggression. Ings & Sturridge as a pair offer that. Benteke is great in a formation where you have one up top, but Rodgers just can't make that work.

I don't think it's muddled thinking, I just think that the energy Henderson brings is crucial to a 4-3-3 formation, and that a 5-3-2 is more suited to the midfielders available.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he likes to have his options and probably why it can be so difficult to understand his reasoning at times.

3-1-4-1-1 morphing into a 4-1-2-1-2 (or 442 diamond) or 4-3-3. If we play with a back four, we'd need our fullbacks to try and stay very high up the pitch, so we need our midfield to be very precise when playing the ball from the back. Any silly mistakes and we'll be likely to concede, which has proved the case. With 3 at the back, it gives us that extra body and time.

Also, we're only 4 points behind the mighty City, which given our tough, Rodger's breaking start to the season is a miracle in itself!

If you are basing your whole team around one player and then having to switch when that player is missing, it smacks of poor recruitment.

Football is fine margins and this league is very up & down atm. But you have to focus on yourself and not look around at what others are doing. This league will settle down soon and that's why I think we need to make the change after Everton.

Because other teams have been poor we are still close. If we leave it too late the chance to seize 4th will be gone. We looked better today but Villa have lost 4 of 6 games before playing us so we should be playing them off the park.
