    Didn't Sturridge start against Norwich?

He didn't play today because of injuries to others. He played because he's fully fit.

It does. We've had our best run last season with it and since reverting to it this season, we haven't lost.

What system would you have us play?
That 'run' included some of the most turgid **** I've ever had to endure as a Liverpool fan. The fact it blew up so spectacularly just shows what a big bag of spanners it is.

Ings is looking excellent...I've massively underrated him I think.

        Lucas was great today too.
I think Ings/Sturridge is a natural pairing in the sorts of systems that Rodgers has made work well. However, I think you could look at Sturridge + Balotelli in the Spurs match and see that something like one of Sturridge or Ings + Benteke could also work. If we had three goalscorers in the squad we would look like a real threat for the top 3/4 at least (given how inconsistent everyone else is at the minute). There are so few goalscorers about you have to over pay. Not that I'm a big fan of big Chris but I can see the deal could make sense.

We have 3 attacking players who are all better suited centrally
We only have 1 out and put holding player
          4 central midfielders
          1 genuine rightback
          1 genuine leftback
          At least 4 centre gales

Anyway I don't wanna be negative today, that was better. We're better trying to win every game 3-2 than 1-0.
Vardy scored 5 in 34 last season, Benteke 13 in 28. I think we paid over the odds like everyone looking for a "proven" goalscorer this summer. Ings was the player we bought in to be the mobile, quick forward and Benteke to be the different style. I don't think there are many world beaters out there and they go for a lot, lot more than we paid for Benteke.

Your listing of players and how they might line up is very rigid and seem to lean towards one style of setting a side up.
Might be rigid but that's more of a reflection of what type of players he's bought

None of the players he has bought are flexible enough

Coutinho can't play out wide effectively neither can Lallana or Firmino

Equally the forwards he's bought are all suited to playing centrally

I think Moreno would be ok at leftback

Don't think we should have bought Benteke personally

I'm not sure I would have but I think the logic for doing so is sound enough. We needed to get at least two goalscoring forwards this summer whilst not being in the CL. Benteke probably has the best record of anyone we had a realistic chance of buying.

                      see the moreno thread.

You're basing this all off the 433 formation though and I agree what he's brought for that formation doesn't really work for us however the players we have can and do work in alternative formations whilst also offering some squad depth.

Great result, some of the inter play between Coutinho, Sturridge and Milner was great to watch. Thought Lucas & Skrtel were excellent defensively, Sakho didn't have a good game & we really need to stop playing Can at RCB..... much rather see Gomez there as he is actually a defender.

What a difference Sturridge makes!! Thought Ings was great too. Begs the question why on earth did we buy Benteke!? And Clyne!? The movement up top was great and Moreno raiding down the left gave us something we haven't had all season. That formation suits him perfectly but it doesn't suit Clyne.

So many questions to be answered & I still think Rodgers is a goner but the 3 points was great.

Can was good in that role at times last season and with Lucas and Skrtel in the side we need two defenders who can bring and/or pass the ball out. If we want to play this way we have to have a settled side before we judge individuals. I think Gomez will be a good option long term though.

Clearly still not perfect, crap defending at times. But much more fun going forwards so let's enjoy that

The defending from all 3 again was a bit painful to watch, Sakho didn't have a great game, Can made some basic errors especially gifting that chance in the first half and Skrtel still keeps dropping off players but a wins a win
