Still a bit meh, yeah we won. Some positives but on the whole it was a very flat games move the ball too slowly, no penetration...the only differences being Sturridge took two great goals(btw apart from that he was well of the pace imo), and the fact villa were dreadful and just didn't get in our faces

Another telling thing, the atmosphere was as dead as I can ever remember, the crowd just seemed to sit there waiting to go home and I'll throw in, very very telling that there was no support shown for Rodgers

I think it's a case of when not if he will be sacked
Were you at the Norwich game? Much more support (for the team) today IMO. Loud from the off, carried on by the early goal, then you're right that it subsided to being pretty dead atmosphere wise as we struggled to break them down again.

Thought it was a much improved performance today too. Whereas Norwich was a shuffling step in the right direction after two **** performances, today was actually a fairly decent performance on its own merits. Mignolet apart we could have won that much more comfortably.

Virtually everyone did, I'd be feeling rather smug about it if I hadn't also thought Rodgers would would sort himself out

Since the first time I saw him play for Burnley in the championship I thought he really had something about him, not just movement and an eye for goal but what impressed me most even then was his attitude and commitment, it screamed of a player who had the mentality to step up and keep on working to improve.

I'm convinced he'll do very well for us, and I'm really pleased other people are starting to see what he can offer too.

Lucas was Lucas, sat very deep protecting Moreno who got caught out of position a lot but was great at attacking down the left.

On the flip side of this Clyne didn't attack down the right so much but looked far more accomplished in defence.

As for formation **** knows, someone else can answer that ha ha!
        thanks champ.

You know what? i actually prefer watching Couts playing slightly deeper than the usual fwd of the diamond, actually in the CM role and played in tandem with lucas when we had possession... they actually click together playing the short passes, with lucas winning possession back and recycling it back and forth with couts who either goes for the run (pace, agility and the dribble skill to run from deep) or makes intelligent passes...Milner looked ok further up front, but imagine if we did have A proper AM (ie. firminho back..playing the tip of that diamond,,,or hendo)...

in any case ingsy and sturro up front suits this high pressing - high pressure style of play and we seamlessly seem to click from an attacking perspective...

Great game, a lot of positives to take away from that. Back to being fun again !! Daniel Sturridge now has the highest games to goals ratio in the history of this great club, he is world class and with him in the side we look like a totally different team.

Only negatives were sakho's inability to win a single header ...but one win and wow what a difference it makes

This baffles me too.. We have the ideal squad for 442, diamond formation and not so for 433 or any other adaptation of that system, why he is so insistent on not going that way is bewildering.

The way we played yesterday was a bit gung ho, but I like that if we are winning games, **** I'd take conceding 2 or 3 a game if we are banging in more..

Having Sturridge back does make a big difference in our attack and score to peaches to, great assists too. The Daniel and Ings worked well together I thought..I must say I am a little unsure why we bought Benteke, other than the need to have another proven goal scorer, in case Stug is crocked again.. 32.5 on a back up is a costly addition, but I guess EPL players, especially the better strikers are going to be costly...

Oh yeah forgot to add, thought Moreno was great, he gives us so much more going forward a right little live wire..(still **** defender though LOL) and Cout is so much better player in that slightly deeper role, I feel he is much better suited there than more forward. Milner looked better in his role yesterday and I do like Lucas, he gives his all for this club and really he is one of the best in the League in that DM position.. He's still an important player for us imo.

Any way the game was much better and if Rogers really wants to extend his Liverpool Career for a short while longer he'd better stick with a winning formula for the foreseeable future, and not revert to type.

Finally I thought he came across rather nonchalant and little arrogant in the post match presser, fcuk me we beat a very dire Aston Villa side, he did himself no favours really, especially the line about there are some people that don't want we at the club.. I take it meant the fan base, well, not a clever way to come across publicly.

He was ****e in that position.

Good at playing his 40 yard passes and then doing his strut walk as if he is Derek ****in Zoolander but ****e defensively. We were class attacking teams in the second half of that 13/14 season but we were actually ****in terrible defensively.

What Rodgers needs to do is just say he'll let the results do the talking and leave it at that.

                    Agreed.

Thought Lucas was fairly laboured and misplaced 3 or 4 really straightforward passed to out us in the ****. Ings really was a proper Duracell bunny, over stopped running. Thought Sturridge was a complete passenger actually, apart from the 2 goals....... He seems about 2 yards off the pace but I suppose that'll come.

Agree with ya. But you can definately see the quality sturridge has...

Yeah mate, the Norwich game was dire too. Tbh I don't think the atmosphere was much better until we scored the 3rd and it died down quickly after that and then picked up a bit when they got the second to try and get the team through to the end

I've been a fan of Ings for a few seasons and I suggested we sign him instead of Lambert.

Good result, doesnt change anything about Rodgers IMO, but I was deadwrong about Ings, begs the question why he didnt get his chance sooner.
