As good as Moreno is as a more advanced wing back, I'd still rather we played four at the back. I know he's not been great anywhere on the pitch this season, but I feel Can is wasted at CB. Get him in CM.

I thought the system suits Clyne as well. He offered a good outlet on the right a lot of times. He's never been great with his end product anyway, but he's a willing runner and is tactically astute to know when to attack and when not.
      Are we winning?

So would I, I think this system is here to stay for a while though.

I really for the life of me can't see why we're so unwilling to try a 442 though

Most formations require width either from attacking wide players or fullbacks

To me he's bought far too many central players irrespective of what system he's going to play

The fullbacks in Moreno and Clyne are more than capable of offering the width but for some unfathomable reason he won't play the 442.

Personally I don't think Clyne is suited to being a wingback

Yup he's an out and out defender. Moreno may excel in this formation but Clyne doesn't.

He's far better as part of a back 4

442 diamond is the most suited but even then it's far from ideal

But again if we are to play 4-4-2 diamond the in balance in the squad is enormous

We have the right number of forwards for this although Benteke might be less suited to this

To play at the tip of the diamond we have Coutinho Lallana and Firmino that's far too many

Behind them we have Can Henderson Milner and Allen

Yet we only have 1 holding player capable of playing at the base of the diamond

We told the German U21 manager and Joachim Low that Can would be played in the DM position this season.

I guess we won't be seeing him there until next year at the very least.

Rodgers likes his fullbacks to press high up the pitch and rightly so if you have a narrow midfield, but it leaves the defence exposed when we lose the ball. We've been punished a few times and I think he realises that having an extra body in central defence, he can compensate for that. This formation worked when we had the triumvirate of Sterling, Suarez and Sturridge and we were outscoring teams for fun. Now we don't have the same luxury.

                            Yep

He's better pushing on from deeper positions than playing higher up the pitch

Also, Gerrard used to be like a quarter-back in that formation, distributing the ball from the back, so we were transitioning from a defensive position to an attacking one much more quickly.

Typical Brendan, a one game win run and he's a genius again. He's an egotistical maniac.
