Someone on here - can't remember who - mentioned this yesterday as a possible or likely scenario, and it seems this is pretty much exactly the case.
Hunter in the Guardian (see above) says the club will make an "official approach" to Klopp this week - that's because, apparently, everything is agreed verbally (i.e. unofficially) and when that agreement came the decision was made to sack Rodgers regardless of the Everton result. Out of respect for him, and in the name of being seen to be official and right and proper, this is sort of being drip fed now and all reports will claim that "contact" is just being made and the whole process has just begun. I think you'd have to be pretty naive to think that's how it works. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

QFT, its sort of stupid that the media indulges in this pointless fan danceOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostSomeone on here - can't remember who - mentioned this yesterday as a possible or likely scenario, and it seems this is pretty much exactly the case.

The gap between "the net" and the media at times like this is huge. Basically everyone understands that Klopp is barring accidents the manager of the club but the papers are still carrying on with "club has approached Jurgen Klopp" blah blah blah. They must know the truth of it and even if they didn't they could just pick up the phone and ask Liverpool to confirm or deny.

Would there be legal ramifications if we spoke to Klopp while Rodgers was still in charge? Surely he'd have some sort of legal right? If so I suspect that's why its being played out in this way, but as Shaggy says it would be naive to think its happening the way the papers portray it.Vive la France

Yeah that was me but I was going by what Graeme Kelly said on Twitter that it's definitely Klopp. He called the sacking no matter what the result...even Rodgers didn't know he was getting sacked! Crazy times.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostSomeone on here - can't remember who - mentioned this yesterday as a possible or likely scenario, and it seems this is pretty much exactly the case.

I suspected much the same in the build up to the game. Gut feeling I suppose, but I felt pretty confident all weekend that yesterday would his last game.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostSomeone on here - can't remember who - mentioned this yesterday as a possible or likely scenario, and it seems this is pretty much exactly the case.

I guess there was Twitter ITK talk which suggested it too, but the spin was towards FDB taking over last week, with Klopp looking like a relative outsider.
That said, I think FSG are handling things really well. Again. Whenever they have to step up to the challenge, they invariably do IMO.
They have supported Brendan to the point where it was no longer feasible. I guess you could say that they give him all the rope he needed.
A lot of people think they should have sacked him in the summer. I didn't. I thought he showed enough from the 13/14 season to earn another crack at the whip. The yo-yo effect has been seen before. Could he bounce back? Alas this time, there was a bottoming out. No improvement, but no further decline either. But that is not good enough. A change is needed. Another fresh start.Oh I don't know.

Yeah that's what I thought too but there are some reports today saying he was shocked. Maybe he thought he had just a little bit more time...Originally posted by frank the tank View Posteven Andy Carroll knew he was being sacked so i suspect that Brendan knew full well that he was on the way out....

Constructive dismissal perhaps, but seeing as we will be paying up his contract I doubt it would have made much difference.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostWould there be legal ramifications if we spoke to Klopp while Rodgers was still in charge? Listening back to Graeme Kelly on the podcast, he said his source told him that Ancelotti only wants to be around for a year or two, as his kids are in Canada (his wife is from Canada, and that's where he's spent the bulk of his sabbatical. He also had his operation there), while Klopp is willing to move his entire family to Liverpool, because this is his dynasty (not ashamed to admit I made an orgasmic sound when I heard that).
Apparently, Klopp's researched the club in the summer, and he's close with some of the local journalists too.

Contact was made in March, when Parry & Moores met Rafa at Moores' holiday home in Portugal (I think)
An agreement was made there and then
We sacked Houllier in the May and then we had days of speculation, including drip fed stories that it was Rafa. We then had to wait and watch Rafa say he was leaving Valencia and then a couple of days later he showed up at LFC
It was just done to pad out the story and make it seem as though everything was done with respect towards Houllier etc...
Klopp is in the bag imoBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
