Yeah good point Dave. Chelsea were woeful and I think we were a tad lucky with certain decisions. The game was tight until Benteke came in and we still were having difficulties creating clear chances until that point.
    Are we winning?

That's true but up until that point we weren't really playing with a striker. Firmino was nominally up there but we were almost playing 6 in midfield at times.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Klopp mentioned that playing Firmino up top was a tactical decision albeit forced because Benteke wasn't 100%. Yes having Benteke and Sturridge fit will help us in that regard.

It was tactical and allowed us to dominate the midfield, it was a brilliant move. When we changed it up though I have to say I'm delighted looking back. Klopp rolled the dice and gambled for a win.

Could easily made safe situations and decided to try & hold out for a point, but making bold substitutions signified his intent to the fans & the players. Most managers in that situation being on Joe Allen to make us more solid in the middle, not a player like Ibe to make us more dangerous.

Bigger the dot and thicker the line the more of the ball and greater number of passes

Lallana looks bad in this! Also the positional bias to the left side is clear as a bell.

              Poor Pluto Milner.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The (unforced) error rate and Liverpools ability to offer up chances to the opposition is beyond the acceptable really, (ignoring the Hodgson/Dalglish 2010/11 season) the spike in the Rodgers era is illustrated in this interesting blog article on basstunedtored

                    2013/14 season

Alas no figures for last season but it's hard to imagine them being any better.

Both goals on Sunday were just typical - first sees Can lamely spoons the ball across his own goal and then for the second a terribly weak parry of a catchable ball by Mignolet. Palace didn't have to work hard at those moments to score.

Ugh, those are some ugly stats right there. Shocking actually.

The league isn't generally full of quality. I think if you cut out errors you do very well, particularly if you are able to finish off most of the gilt edged chances presented to you in a game.

You only have to look at United. Generally quite poor but they aren't giving away goals like us & tend to finish the very few chances they create. If we could mirror what they did we'd be sailing into the top 4. Very frustrating.

The thread title states Klopp's Liverpool Style Guide........However, I feel these statistics are heavily slued against Klopp as rodgers was responsible for the majority of these games

The above image is for this season. so obviously includes both but these stats illustrate the kind of issues that Klopp will have to deal with - Liverpool are soft and fragile, can be easily turned over, don't fight back effectively and are wasteful to an unacceptable degree. 10.5% shot/goal conversion rate is terrible.

Here are the shots by both teams in the Palace game, look how many by Liverpool are in good positions and yet just one goal to show for them.

The biggest problem we have is the amount of time players take to set themselves before shooting. When through on goal best advice is to delay the shot until the last second, wait for the keeper to commit himself first. But the times we are through with just the keeper to beat I could probably count on one hand.

More often than not our best chances are coming from crosses into the box or a quick one two on the edge in situations where the box is packed out with defenders. In that situation you need to be finishing first time, at the earliest opportunity. A delay only results in a deflection or a tackle.

Guarateed that as soon as the goals are flowing, they'll be taking first time finishes in the box and showing the required composure when through on goal or when it comes to the decision over to shoot from 25 yards or lay in a team mate. But it's painful waiting for the penny to drop.

This leads me into these 20-30 yard shots we are taking. About a third of those occasions I see a player who is free just ahead of the player about to strike. A simple 5/6 yard pass gives the potential receiver a chance to turn and then strike on goal unopposed from about 12 yards out.

Even the much maligned Origi, so accused of hiding has been in plenty of situations where he's on the half turn on the edge of the box. I'm not saying we score every time from this, but the odds are much increased.

I remember watching that great Barca side and they'd just pass and pass and invariably slip someone in on the half turn. Composure and belief to the maximum. We display none and it's why in reality we show up as having a ton of chances that are pretty much pointless.
