It basically worked for Rodgers because you couldn't suppress Sturridge and Suarez. Oppos couldn't press on Gerrard because Skrtel would launch it to SAS and they were f*cked.

Won't work so well with Benteke and Origi. Or Origi and Invisible Man (Firmino). A great formation when the right players are used but the easiest to destroy into pieces otherwise (ironic calling it diamond really).

What gets me is in the 80s and 90s I would play different formation depending on which team we were up against. If oppos had 3 at the back we'd put 3 strikers up front. If they went 4-4-2 we'd flood the midfield. Etc. Have managers nowadays forgotten how to 'manage'?

Mate Since Rafa left in terms of the team .. with the exception of that one season of brightness a couple of years ago when we had Gerrard, Sturridge and Suarez in the same team.... its been a slow slide down in terms of quality .. and now on top of all that we are known for having **** fans to booth .. honestly if it was not anybody else but Klopp in charge I would all but pack it in ... and I have not missed a game living in a timezone 8 hours ahead in close to 20 years ...... Gerrard retired and Sturridge is permanently injured .. the closest player to a star in that team is Coutinho and I don't think he is the kind of player who can shoulder that kind of one man team pressure.

Can is incredibly frustrating ... very accurately he has been described at times as both the best player and worse player on the pitch in the same game ..and thats when he is having a good game. When he is having a bad game he moves around like a 16 stone brick layer.

Firmino looks like he will definitely need a season to bed in
Coutinho really needs good movement ahead of him otherwise hes totally redundant
Skirtel has been at the very center of the team that has won **** all since his been there
Migs looks like a 12 year old could easily lamp him
Moreno and Clyne need to be more decisive and direct

Is it a simple case of our new newnew new strategy has been found out already. I know its easier said then done but for me its screaming out to us ... we need to focus all our attentions through the middle ... every single ****ing team is letting us have the ball on the wings and nothing is happening for static play .. the only time we ever look threatening on the wing is if we are breaking fast on the counter.

I would love to see us play the Diamond again .. seems to be the one formation that suits the players we currently have

I've a similar feeling. Leicester are due a hiccup and we're due a good performance, particularly in the league and at Anfield. Think this might be one of those that goes against the form book.

Its not his first. His first came in his first game. He's a piss poor keeper and Mig, as **** as he is too, is miles better.

He was never the answer much like Brad Jones wasn't the answer last season. Both of them need replacing.
