It's aboslute suicide in the modern game to say that before a match especially away from home against a team that will be on the front foot.

Europa League is a great opportunity for us to get in the CL and last night was a big game and it was a fairly decent result on paper.

I don't think the home leg is a formality at all and can see it going to extra time and penalties. As I said, we struggle against energetic sides as players like Milner and Henderson are not 'quick in the mind' enough. Can has a few more tricks up his sleeve and thats why I'm more optimistic about his future at the club even though he's very inconsistent at the moment.

Two things noticable last night from our so-called strongest midfield/attack:

    1) We have no pace on the counter
    2) We play an awful lot through the flanks with Moreno and Clyne supporting the attack. It's happened all season.Would prefer it if Coutinho, Sturridge and Firmino could cut through with their guile through the centre. They don't strike me as players that like to feed off crosses from the side.
The fact that Klopp criticized the performance is enough to suggest his game plan wasnt followed, hence the full pelt and fans deluded comment isn't relevant. -

Jurgen Klopp admitted he was not particularly happy with Liverpool's performance in the 0-0 draw at Augsburg.

despite insisting the result itself was not bad, Klopp was unhappy with the way his side played.

"We had a few chances, but I can't say I am particularly happy," said Klopp. "There's no point getting carried away, 0-0 away from home isn't a bad result, but we still have a lot of work to do.

"We didn't really get our pressing game going, we didn't get into our rhythm and failed to impose ourselves in midfield.

"There were a lot of things we could have done better."

The central midfield is poop right now.

Hendo bin him - not a captain can't run any more
Milner bin him - dull in CM, best out wide but Klopp wants a proper winger

Lucas - keep him - stabilising presence
Allen keep him - tidy ball player
Can keep him - box to box
Grujic use him - box to box
Xhaka buy him - plays from deep knows how to pass

        -----------------Sturridge---------------

        Coutinho--------Firmino----------Sane

        ----------Xhaka----------Grujic--------

Somthing like this would be nice.

Grujic is a kid who will take time to get used to being with us, wishful thinking that he will be in the first team next year. We have seen in the past how good Henderson can be when surrounded by better players and we have no idea how much his injury is hampering him currently.

The other 5 would would be great

I watched a lot of the highlights reels of him since he agreed to sign us and I do think he'll be a very good player (the Serbian league looks v poor though) but I'd be amazed is he is a regular next year. He may turn out to be similar to Alli and we'll all be delighted but let's not expect too much of him.

Re Henderson - I don't think he is Liverpool captain material myself but he is better than he is showing recently. I'd say he is still playing through the pain barrier because he is not getting through as much work as he used to. It would be a good player to get in ahead of Henderson on top form but if we can find one then great.

Out of Lucas, Henderson, Can, Milner and Allen we can't keep them all (and still be a good team). Those players have all served their purpose in a midtable team over the last few years having their peaks and troughs. With Klopp we need to step up like Spurs have.

So out of those four we have to lose 3 minimum. Personally I'd be ok with losing more if decent priced replacements are found. But not just replacements, we need to start making room for some promising youngsters too. If Can and Henderson, for example, are only used in cup games next season then where do Brannagan and Chirivella fit in?

We need to buy players with ambition, players who want to win and go on to bigger and better things. What we don't need is more players that see coming to Liverpool as the pinnacle of their careers, coming here and thinking they have made it.

Henderson Can Milner together just don't really create much.
Can has youth on his side but I think the other two are squaddies at best in a good team.
Can't wait to see the summer signings

yep this is the side effect of buying from Soton, Villa, Sunderland etc. As pissed of as I am when Alonso or Suarez buggers off its because they are good enough for the euro giants to want them which is a good thing until they leave.

Said it before loads of times, the expectations of the club are just too big for most players. Doesn't matter where they come from, in fact Alonso is a good example because he DIDN'T come from a big team but ability wise and mentally he was able to cope.

Maybe they should be given psychometric tests before they're signed

Its a premier league club issue rather than a universal one.

or the scouts the club employs could do their ****ing job once in a while. it's not just scouting the player in one or two games per season, but also how they react in different situations on and off the pitch.

For the amount of money spent, we have the worst collection of CM I have seen at LFC in my lifetime.

None of them create enough or offer enough protection to our defense. Of course there are valid excuses for each one of them. But when you develop a squad one should take all of this factors into consideration. We have become specialist in creating squads where the whole is weaker than the sum of the parts.

I would have Danny Murphy over this lot. Atleast he scored winners against the Mancs.
