I wonder if we might even go for the no-strikers approach, and play Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana as a front three, ahead of Milner, Henderson and Can? Pack midfield and look to break as a unit...

I reckon it will be an Augsberg type performance, kill the game and retain possession.

        Has to be Sturridge.

Can't believe this conversation is happening!

now klopp has had some time to show some of these chickens how to play football i wonder if our pressing will be more intelligent rather than the gung ho ball chase we sometimes get in the opposition half. covering the free man and saving our legs, more brains than brawn.

knowing manure need to come forward i can see us being happy to sit in our half and allow them to piss about with the ball. once they dare to cross the half way line we will be on them like a flamethrower. im not expecting a full bus parking like the plastic chav cunts did, maybe something to frustrate them, then gradually take it to them in little spells to mentally mess them up.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Interesting that a couple of the players have already come out after the game and said they'll 'go for it' or 'go for the jugular' at OT - when pragmatism says pack the midfield, keep it tight, nil-nil at the break and hit them on the counter when they start to push for a goal in the second half.

Wonder where Klopp's head is at? Will he push forward, press from the start and look for an early goal with a similar team to last week...? Or will he sit back more, change the line-up with Milner in, possibly no striker and wait to pounce?

For my nerves, I'd prefer the former... get at them early, hit them hard and get an early goal. Not sure he's likely to be that aggressive though...

We need to do our utmost not to invite pressure. For me that means playing the same team and continuing where we left off from.

If you look at Klopp at Dortmund he played his best team home and away - look at when they beat Madrid 4-1 in the semi final at the Westfalen he played the same team a week later in Madrid. I think he'll play what he believes to be his strongest team and go there with the mentality to win the game.

We need to get at them from the start and play our game and not try to counter their game. Playing a more "defensive" side suggests the mentality of the team is to hang on. United are **** and we need to go there and play with the same mentality as we did at Anfield. I suspect they will absolutely bombard our box with high balls to Fellaini and scrap for second balls.

Get a goal against this lot at their place and the tie should be over, they'll need to score 4.

Agree. We can't let the crowd get into them.

This lad is very much a "home" referee apparently. If I was the cynical suspicious type I'd wonder about UEFA's David Gill having influence here.

Liverpool FC to treat Manchester United trip like a European awayday

Reds to train at Old Trafford

Jurgen Klopp has decided to treat Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford no differently to any other European away trip.

The buoyant Reds, who go into Thursday night’s second leg of the Europa League last 16 tie with a commanding 2-0 lead, will make the short trip to Manchester on Wednesday.

Klopp will hold his press conference at Old Trafford at 5.15pm before overseeing a training session there from 6pm.

It’s a far cry from how United approached last week’s first leg at Anfield.

Louis van Gaal requested special dispensation from UEFA for his squad to stay and train in Manchester on the eve of the game.

Under UEFA rules, the visiting side in European competitions must stay within 27 miles of the hosts’ stadium the day before a game.

However, the governing body permitted United to train at their Carrington base before travelling to Liverpool on the day of the match.

Van Gaal essentially treated the first leg like a domestic fixture but Klopp has been adamant that Liverpool will approach the second leg in the same manner in which they have their other European away games this season.

Goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino have put the Reds firmly in control of the tie.

However, their recent record at Old Trafford is poor with eight defeats from their last nine games there in all competitions.

Thats the only worry about this one, a birra corruption, wouldn't exactly be a surprise if a ref from there was bent, their league is a comedy show!! Let's hope he's not a pissed off Zvezda fan who loves Grujic!!

It's easy to start at a high tempo and slow it down it's not so easy to start at a slow tempo and speed it up. Going there to defend is a bad idea as it only takes a slip or a mistake to get them going and put us under real pressure for the rest of the game where they only need to find another. We don't want to give them the momentum, we should go after them from the start, just be careful not to over commit. The ideal situation would be for us to get an early goal and take a 3-0 lead with them needing to score 4 to go through.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
