Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has apologised for his errors in the Champions League final.

The Reds stopper made two crucial mistakes which gifted Real Madrid goals in the 3-1 defeat.


Speaking to talkSPORT after the match, a distraught Karius said: "I don't feel anything right now. Today I lost my team the game and I feel sorry for everyone.

"I'm sorry for everyone - from the team, from the whole club - that the mistakes cost dearly.

"If I could go back in time, I would. I feel sorry for my team. I know I let them down today.

"It's very hard right now but that's the life of a goalkeeper. You have to get your head up again.

These goals cost us the title, basically."


Asked what the mood was like in the Liverpool dressing room after the defeat, he said: "There's not much I had to say.

With Karius and Moreno Klopp is seriously blind or blind sided. It's a silver lining that Karius made two huge unforgivable mistakes for Klopp to act.

It hurts now but boy are we going to be awesome next season with all the players coming in AND a new classy keeper. Roll on the league title!

It would be criminal negligence on the clubs and Klopp's part if we don't get a better keeper than Karius for the next season.

That’s the positive.

The one obvious area we can strengthen that may otherwise have been ignored.

We’ve ended up with average keepers for years because they pick up in form towards end of season and we have seemingly bigger priorities.
