Pickford is a teenager isn't he? Butland is apparently a bad keeper with the ball at his feet. Its a difficult one buying a keeper, and there wasn't much to choose from. I'm not buying that any of you have been watching any of the German based keepers that closely that you can assess whether they would have been better or worse than Karius.

Like I said before, the strangest thing about this whole process has been that Karius and Mignolet have not looked any better than Danny Ward. Indeed, Danny Ward hasn't looked any worse than all but the top / best keepers in the league.

I dont think any of them are better. We spent most of last season laughing at Joe Hart as he made clanger after clanger. Begovic is Mignolet. And the last time I looked at a Southampton forum they were hammering Forster because he doesn't save anything or come off his line! Though on non Southampton forums he seems to be seen as boss, funny old world!

Forster benefits from the rest of the world seeing how decent Southampton have been defensively over the last few years. He just looks a bit of a bog standard keeper to me - not bad, not great. That's backed up by the fact Hart is England number one at his expense

So an upgrade on what we have then

I think the only keepers who have looked good this season are Lloris and Cech.

De Gea and Courtois are great keepers but not been at there best this year.

I think if you look on other teams forums they will all be slating there 'dodgy ' keepers.

A lot of people haven't rated Lallana and Milner when we signed them always labelled with average and not good enough , soton reject , couldn't get in the city team etc

Think a keeper that has won the league twice and kept the clean sheet record as well for a team that hasn't been great defensively makes him good for me.

Seen him keep Barca at bay in the champions league single handed.

I feel we have done the groundhog day thing with keepers for too long when all our rivals have that position covered except for city now lol

Problem for me mate I am clueless with foreign leagues and keepers who are any good , only really watch us nowadays and who we play.

Probably get sucked into the old way of seeing someone play well against us and offer 25 million straight away.

Hart makes mistakes lots of them and those mistakes seem to be occurring more and more frequently

If you had asked me 4 or 5 years ago then I probably wouldnt have given the same opinion of Hart that I hold now

Right now hes not the keeper he was and he seems to be deteriorating

Hart has definitely terminally deteriorated and there is no way back for him. He was always the same. Excellent at certain things and poor at others. Except now he is quite poor at everything.
